Your Take: Matchmaker, Matchmaker
In Thursday’s News Roundup, Brody included news that Lee Ann Womack will join country music heavyweights George Strait and Reba McEntire on tour next year.
The Tennessean reports:
One of country music’s biggest touring bills just got even better. George Strait has invited Lee Ann Womack to join him and Reba McEntire on their 2010 tour, which will make its way through the U.S. from January to April.
“I can’t imagine a better tour to be on than George Strait and Reba McEntire — and now I’m not imagining,” Womack said in a release.
“I’m trying to figure out what to wear, ’cause you can’t out-starch George and you sure can’t out-spangle Reba!”
The tour kicks off on January 22 in Baltimore and ends its sporadic run on April 10 in Des Moines.
If you could play matchmaker, who would be on the bill of your dream tour? Dead or alive, young or old, regardless of genre – which groups or artists would you choose and why? Are there particular songs by one of the artists you’d be interested in hearing them sing together?

In each and every instance, the best country albums of the past ten years were built on the backs of songs -- stories about you and me from birth to death and stories that paint landscapes rooted in every region of America and beyond. These are the top country albums of the decade.

I saw the Girls Night Out Tour in 2001, but I always thought the lineup was a bit weak, especially for such a momentous idea. I saw Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Jamie O’Neal, Sara Evans, Martina McBride, and Reba. If it were up to me, the bill would have looked more like this:
Terri Clark
Mary Chapin Carpenter
Lee Ann Womack
Trisha Yearwood
Tanya Tucker
Reba McEntire
… I am getting to see 2 of those 6 in Knoxville in January.

George Strait, Reba, and Lee Ann Womack, oh wait, that’s already happening, too bad they aren’t coming anywhere near driving distance from me. But honestly that’s my ultimate concert utopia. It’s highly unlikely they will add anymore dates because they are too big of artists who dont even need to tour in the first place, so why add more dates when you can chill in your mansions or what have you, but I will keep my fingers crossed.

Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Darius Rucker, and Little Big Town.
I’d love to hear Carrie and Martina together- to best vocalists in country. I actually perfer a few duets and then Carrie singing by herself.
I’d love to see them do “Broken Wing,” “Independence Day,” “Jesus, Talke The Wheel and possibly some classic rock songs.
I’d take anything from Rascal Flatts, but I’d love to see them do a few duets- “Bless The Broken Road,” “These Days,” “My Worst Fear” “Like I Am” and “What Can I Say” from Underwood’s new album. I also think they could pull off some classic rock- the Flatts would probably be roasted for it, but I’d love it. The chemistry between these four is unlike any pairing I’ve seen in country music- Carrie just seems to become more comfortable and lets go a bit when they’re around.
I think Keith and Carrie would be great to see- not a huge Urban fan, but after seeing videos of performance of these two together I was blown away. I’d like to hear them duet on “Somebody Like You” “Raining On Sunday,” or “Sweet Thing.” I think a duet on “Making Memories Of Us” would be beautiful as well. For some reason I keep thinking Gary and Keith’s voices would blend well together- I’d be thrilled to see a song or two.
I think Carrie and Miranda would be an interesting pairing. I’d love to see them do “Gunpowder and Lead,” “More Like Her” “Before He Cheats, and “Undo It” together. I’d also like to hear Miranda, Martina and Carrie together- their voices are all pretty different, and I would be intrested to see how that turned out. I’d like to see them duet on some classic rock or maybe a power ballad or two.
I saw Little Big Town and Carrie in 2008, and I was blown away by the talent of both. I’d love to see an Underwood/LBT duet on “Bring It On Home” or “Vapor,” along with short individual sets by both.
I don’t know a ton of Darius material, but I have come to appreciate his talent and he has qickly become one of my favorite “new” artists. I’d be interested to see him, Underwood and Urban perform together- all different voices, but consistent talents.

For an all star guitar fest: Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Santana, Acoustic Alchemy (nu-jazz), and Neal Schon (Journey lead guy)
For all star singer: Wynonna, Reba, Trisha Yearwood, Patty Loveless, Dolly Parton, Mindy Smith, Josh Turner, Trace Adkins, Vince Gill, Little Big Town, Johnny Cash, and Randy Travis
For all star entertainment: Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, KISS, KU, BP, and Brooks & Dunn
However…I’m really in the mood for down-to-earth feel today, which would be: Randy Travis, LBT, KU (stripped down acoustic only), and Wynonna’s crazy home-rearing stories. :P
