Wynonna Releases Debut Novel; New Album Releases; Steve Earle Schedules New Album & Novel
- Today marks the release of Wynonna Judd‘s debut novel (Amazon):
Restless Heart is your first novel. How much is autobiographical?
Enough to make it real. I’m living truthfully in imaginary circumstances. I’m telling my story through another voice. Writing this was different (from the memoir) because I could take liberties but also draw from my own experiences. She (main character Destiny Hart) has the same ambition and passion for music I did at that age. - Wynonna isn’t the only one. Sara Evans released the second installment of her novel, Softly and Tenderly, earlier this month and Steve Earle‘s debut, I’ll Never Get Out of This World Alive, is due in May. Earle’s novel borrows its title from a Hank Williams song of the same name and tells the story of a doctor who is haunted by his former patient, Hank Williams. Earle will also use the title for his next album, which is scheduled for release in April.
Earle says the 11-track “I’ll Never Get Out Of This World Alive,” which takes its title from Hank Williams’ posthumous 1953 hit, is “inadvertently” more country-flavored than his albums have sounded in awhile [...]

- Actor/singer/songwriter Christian Kane on his live show:

Don’t forget, O Brother became Lost Highway’s first album after it had already sold about a million for Mercury.

Trailer’s Doppelgangers earns a solid “5 Hoots” for the Shooter Jennings entry alone! (lol) Its right up there with Dwight Yoakam and Gollum among the classics. Has Yoda ever been used in one of the doppelganger features? Hmm…
I don’t use iTunes BUT Amos Lee does have the song “El Camino” available for a freebie download at Amazon:

Wanda Jackson did shows here in LA both Sunday and Monday nights but the after-market ticket prices were too steep. Well that and the fact the typical volume level in the El Rey Theater causes your ears to bleed and with Jack White leading the band it could have been even louder! Crikey! I must say I am curious to hear Wanda’s take on the naughty Andrews Sisters hit “Drinking Rum and Coca-cola” about working girls down Trinidad way in the 1940′s.
I’ll admit I can’t give Steel Magnolia a fair shake as their creation as a duo was just so contrived. Its like taking two American Idol finalists and putting them together for commercial purposes. Ugh. On the other hand Thompson Square was on the Opry last Saturday night and they slowed their current radio single down and totally twanged it up! Good stuff.

I’ve spent the last three days listening to the album over and over. More albums should be recorded in 5 days like this one. Too many cooks, etc.
