Willie Nelson’s Politically Charged Song to be Released November 21

Willie Nelson: Whatever Happened to Peace on Earth Back in 2003 Willie Nelson wrote a song titled “Whatever Happened to Peace on Earth” to speak out about the political climate and the war in Iraq. From what I can tell it hasn’t been released until now, well not exactly now, but it will be on November 21st. Singing with Nelson in the song are Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Michael McDonald, Patrick Simmons, and his two sons.

According to Nelson, the song is a criticism agaist the Bush administration’s choice to invade Iraq and those who think it’s unpatriotic to speak out
against the war in Iraq.

There’s so many things going on in the world
Babies dying
Mothers crying
How much oil is one human life worth
And what ever happened to peace on earth

We believe everything that they tell us
They’re gonna’ kill us
So we gotta’ kill them first
But I remember a commandment
Thou shall not kill
How much is that soldier’s life worth
And whatever happened to peace on earth

The single will be released by Lost Highway at online digital stores beginning on November 21, with the proceeds going to benefit the National Veterans Foundation.
