Just ran across an August, 1985 Bluegrass Unlimited article on "The PeeWee Pickers: Talented Youth From Utah," a group which featured 14 year old Ryan Shupe - and, interestingly enough, Matt Flinner on banjo ("he also plays the mandolin," it mentions).

I had never heard "Banjo Boy" until I bought a used CDX CD that contained the song and I was blown away. How mainstream country radio could ignore such a catchy and infectiously fun song is absolutely beyond me! Its foolish programmer decisions like that which helped me decide to unplug from Top 40 country radio and check out of the musical crapfest of mediocrity that thrives there...

Laura, in doing a little more homework on your inquiry of theme song, the show has had two songs used to promote it evidently. Ryan Shupe & The Rubberband's "Dream Big" was used in some episodes but primarily in the commercials used to promote the show on NBC. They also appeared in the 9/30/05 episode and sang the single as part of the show.

I believe the article is mistaken. The theme song for Amy Grant's Three Wishes was 'Believe' and it was written by Amy Grant, Dillon O'Brien, Will Owsley, and Bob Thiele.

I think they are a fun band. I especially like their live album, which has a fun version of "Go to Hell." I ove "Bango Boy" too.

Back when the Dream Big album was doing things, I saw them in a small bar in Michigan. There was no choice but to meet them after the show, since they stood by the exit door to thank everyone for coming and signed autographs. The show was fun and they were a nice group of guys.
