Uncut Footage Of Waylon Jenning’s Last Major Concert Coming To DVD
- To kick things off, Rodney Hayden put on a great show at Midnight Rodeo here in Austin on Friday night. Those in attendance were treated to multiple Cash and Haggard covers along with one apiece from Waylon Jennings and Billy Joe Shaver. Hayden performed pieces from his recently released Down the Road and pulled others from past albums to keep listeners on the dance floor. Check him out at rodneyhayden.com.

- Austin American Statesman writer Joe Gross says that some people are surprised to find out that Patty Griffin isn’t from the South.
“There’s hillbillies everywhere,” Griffin says. “I grew up around them, around working class people who think about music a certain way. I think it translates everywhere. Texas music is country-people music, as is folk music.”
- Bronchitis forced Taylor Swift to cancel two appearances this past weekend.
- The new blog Texas/Red Dirt Music Scene has a short Q&A with Josh Ward from the Josh Ward Band. Ward claims that swapping songs with George Strait would be the ultimate gig for him.
- Sales aren’t doing too well in 2007.
But even as Music City bustles in the heat, country sales are sluggish and chilly. Forthcoming releases from superstar acts Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, Brooks & Dunn and Toby Keith have label executives hoping for a strong second half to 2007, a year that — according to Nielsen SoundScan — has experienced a sales dip of more than 30 percent, as of June 3.
- Mark your calendars for July 24th, the day that Columbia/Legacy releases a double disc CD/DVD documenting the last major concert by Waylon Jennings. The concert will be released in uncut form and took place at the Ryman Auditorium in
FebruaryJanuary of 2000. - Richard O. Jones writes “Little Texas may have disbanded in 1997, but it never really went away.” After not having an album in seven years, the band put together a schedule of about 90 shows to see what the reaction was. It was good enough to warrant a live album, and tomorrow they’ll release a studio album, The Missing Years.
- Johnny Cash’s tour bus has been on quite the adventure since parting with Cash three months before his death, but it will takes it’s final resting place at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
- Peter Cooper, Beverly Keel, and Cindy Watts offer up their highlights of the CMA Music Festival. Good stuff here.

Just to clear up any confusion, this is the NEVER SAY DIE-LIVE concert recorded at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium on JANUARY 5th & 6th, 2000….
