Today Marks The Debut Of Johnny Cash Dot Com Radio
- The CMA Music Festival set a record for attendance. Climbing steadily each year, it peaked at 191,154 people this year.
- Country Standard Time has a track listing for the Billy Joe Shaver gospel album, Everybody’s Brother, due out on August 7th. Can’t wait.
- Kellie Pickler talks to People magazine about her hockey flame, Tootoo. The two met after they both bought condos in the same complex where Tootoo spotted Pickler and asked for her number.
- Country Mike wrote about a meeting he had with Ms. Rhonda Ellis, a music education teacher. Ms. Ellis started a group called Liddler Fiddler’s to help emphasize American roots music. They recently wrapped up their third season and were the beneficiaries of 28 violins donated by Chely Wright’s Reading, Writing and Rhythm Foundation. It’s always nice to read a positive story.
- Sammy Kershaw officially announced that he’ll be running as a Republican candidate for Lt. Governor of Louisiana.
“I am not afraid to make difficult decisions. I know that with leadership comes responsibility. For the past 20 years I have taken care of my employees and their families and have learned that leadership means personal sacrifice. It means putting the needs of others before your own. I am going to bring that same mentality to Baton Rouge. As Commissioner of the Department of Culture, Recreation, and Tourism, I will bring the entire experience of my career. I will lead the effort of expanding Louisiana’s reach and creating economic diversification through what is uniquely ours.”
- Today marks the debut of JohnnyCash.com Radio. The member newsletter says that the broadcast will feature interviews with Cash family members, associates, friends and fans. The guest for the debut program is John Carter Cash. It will be streamed from the website and will be archived for later listening. Visit JohnnyCash.com to listen. I’m listening right now and they’re playing a version of “Ring of Fire” that Johnny Cash is singing in Spanish.

Don’t confuse disappointing with worst, as that list would most likely be dominated by obscure indie knockoff bands along with a couple of mainstream releases. There has to be a modicum of expectation that’s dashed upon the release of an album for it to qualify for the year’s most disappointing.
Join host Kelly Dearmore as he shines the light on several noteworthy album releases you might have missed and interviews various artists, from Sarah Borges to Trent Willmon and Reckless Kelly to Wade Bowen, in the first two episode of The 9513 podcast.
