Kelly: That would make sense if he hadn't take the alt-country sounds like mainstream country and none of them have any energy and inspiration swipe. While Tim McGraw often seems like he could like to be Jay Farrer or Ryan Adams when he growns up (and learns to sing), are we really supposed to believe that Son Volt has no energy? That Kasey Chambers has no inspiration? That Neko Case, who recently rounded up every free, discarded piano she could find and created a piano orchestra for her latest album, which she then highlighted with frogs (the ribbity kind) sounds like anything in the mainstream? Big talk coming from the lead singer of a band who's big opening statement was a cover of Snoop Dogg's Gin and Juice.

If they want to see action and energy from those No Depression artists, I suggest he makes these comments to Billy Joe Shavers face.

Matt B: your review over at RoughStock was fantastic.

Gloria: I agree that sometimes when someone is too over-exposed, you can't stand them even if they are talented. It happened with Shania Twain for awhile for me, but now I like her that the hype died down a bit. She was too much to take for awhile. But at least she was somewhat talented.

Carrie is also very talented and I don't feel she was as over-exposed as Taylor is now... though I understand your point that it is easier to let you come to them, not have someone shoved down your throat.

Taylor is the Hanna Montana of Country music, and it is getting on my last nerve. She should just be a songwriter as she has a songwriter's voice...not a singer's voice.

Can't they make a radio station for teens and be done with it so we can get our country radio stations back?

I loved Carrie's performance and I loved the song! Rascal Flatts, well, that do nothing for me! I couldn't stand Carrie while she was being shoved down our throats, but now that the attention has moved over to the Teen Queen Taylor, I've really started paying alot of attention to Carrie and I really like her and think she sings like an angel! Maybe when all the hype dies down aroung the fabulous Taylor, I will like her....NAW, don't think so!

No she didn't Brady. She sang it because she wanted to and she also said that she didn't want that song to go unheard. It's a very special song for her....
It is a fan favorite though.

Did Carrie really say her performance of "I Know You Won't" was a gift to her fans?

I think Kevin Russell from The Gourds is simply saying that he doesnt like categories or boundaries. He doesnt like the "scene" (if a magazine and an annual conference suggest that there is one I supppose) and evidently, he isnt a fan of many of the artists in the "scene". What? Since other fans and writers decide that the Gourds are "Americana", he is supposed to love all that is Americana? He isnt the only artist that has come out against the sometimes comical and many times futile attempt at writers and fans deciding what certain styles of music should be called in order to please their own short-sighted, A.D.D. riddled needs for nice, tidy and convenient packaging...

Sorry Jim C., I have caught myself seeing eye to eye with you more recently, but "crappy", really?
