Nice review of the Old Settler’s festival, but it’s funny to see a dobro called a “slide steel guitar.”

I like the new releases post…
that is all.

Yeah, who’d have thought he would name his kids after songs by Toby Keith and Trisha Yearwood. Weird!

…or rather a song and an album.

I like knowing about new releases too.

Thanks for the link. That list is based on an allegedly real bus rules list that caused a buzz around Nashville a couple years ago. On another note, the Slaid Cleaves album is really enthralling me this far.

I think it’s good to have the new releases right in the news roundups every Tuesday too. I’ve bought several albums you’ve listed.
I am little surprised at the gold certification for Zac Brown, not so much surprised for Jamey Johnson considering all the press and TV time he’s gotten lately. I’m stoked for him.
And man, do I love Rosanne Cash … she gives us a new reason to every time she puts pen to paper.

Another score for Farce the Music! Hilarious.

Please keep the “New Releases” list coming

I got to hear Slaid perform a lot of the new songs a few months ago at McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica and they were all fine compositions. I can understand the enthusiasm for his new album based upon that experience.
So Dale Watson and Wayne Hancock are releasing new albums on the same day! Talk about positive Texas Style Country Music Karma! So how will these albums do on the Texas Regional Chart anyway?
I hear the Boxmasters’ new album title was originally “Moody Billy Bob Psycho” but was shortened somewhere along the way.
What will Brad Paisley name him next son? I’d say its been narrowed down to Goober, Gomer, or maybe Opie! Sheesh.

Music City Walk of Fame..Josh Turner? Already? I mean I love the guy’s music..well, on second thought, looks like most stuff is coming earlier these days..

Off Topic: Did anyone catch Chuck Wicks friskiness on Dancing With The Stars last night? I don’t watch the show but our ABC news at 11 PM featured the segment where he lifted her up from one move by grabbing Julianne’s bust rather than a little lower! It appears Chuck has also been copping a feel of Cinderella! (lol)

Yanno I saw him do that last night while watching the program and thought OMG! But then…I don’t know..they all seem close to grabbing parts they shouldn’t. He explained it saying it was a slip but…mmmmmm…I bet he thanks his lucky stars for that slip.

I feel almost embarrassed to say this, but Bearfoot are one of my Myspace friends. They are really good. I spend my cd allowance for the week on The Greencards, but I think I’ll be getting them next week.
April 21, 2009 at 8:26 pm Permalink
Stormy,
Glad that’s where you spent your music allowance.
April 21, 2009 at 8:33 pm Permalink
Why be embarrassed, Stormy? That’s two good bands you’re talking about. You know, I really liked Annalisa’s singing a lot with Bearfoot, but Odessa has done a great job of jumping in.
By the way, if your taste extends beyond country music, you really ought to check out Megan McCormick, who’s got a new album out. I disremember whether she was ever officially in Bearfoot, but she’s been tight with them for a while, they do a couple of songs that she co-wrote on the new album, and she’s one of my favorites – in fact, she played guitar on a couple of tracks on my album.

It just sounds s high school to say “they’re my myspace friend.”

I’d love to buy more cds but I have this stupid need for food. Also, the really cute striped fabric that will look awesome as the cute short version of Project Runway’s Uli dress that Simplicty has in its pattern book, I saw at Jo Ann’s a couple weeks ago will be on sale for 40 percent off this week. If it stays in my fabric budget I can get also-on-sale linen look white fabric and brown gross grain ribbon and make a really cute short sleeved jacket to go with it. Stupd, stupid need for food.

Stormy, it appears Bearfoot is also short of funds as they’ve let the domain name for their website expire! Sheesh….
April 21, 2009 at 9:33 pm Permalink
They probably did like a lot of other indie bands and just made their Myspace their website.
April 21, 2009 at 9:56 pm Permalink
I’ll have to check out this other band. I really like the Greencards album.
April 21, 2009 at 10:06 pm Permalink
I love the new Greencards album. I was a little nervous when I heard Facination because I was afraid that Jay was going to take it in a huge Duhks direction (which is good for The Duhks but not good for The Greencards). But it is just a funkier version of the Greencards.
April 21, 2009 at 10:42 pm Permalink
Actually, Bearfoot’s website (http://www.bearfootbluegrass.com) is operational,
but they’re a little behind in revamping it to reflect the current lineup, new album, etc.
Stormy, the Greencards’ choice of a producer reflected where they were already going rather than moved them in a new direction.

It’s just one of those albums where there’s a lot to take in. It’s cool. I tend to love Sugar Hill releases, anyway. I’m glad Bill wrote the review for it at CU, because I’d have no idea how to describe it. Even now, he says it was a really hard review to write.

Bearfoot has an interesting sound. A little like Crooked Still. I’m not sure imo they are bluegrass from the clips I listened to. but have a different sound.

Oh, I love the new releases list just like it is.It is very hard to find some of em here, so it’s nice to know where they can be purchased. Some I wouldn’t have even known about had it not been for this blog.

I dunno if all of them did, but the members of the Greencards used to make up Rodney Hayden’s band.
And Kelly featured a couple of tracks by Bearfoot in Episode 3 of our podcast.

Two boys already cowboying in the house…wonder how many BP/KWP will have in the end? I know that Faith Hill and Tim McGraw said they planned on having a big family. So far they have 3 daughters and Tim wants a boy into the mix. What do y’all predict? Brad supporting a large family or just until a girl arrives?
