When I think of Janine Turner I think of her role as pilot Maggie O’Connell from “Northern Exposure”. She was also the lead in the USA series geared towards women “Strong Medicine” that I never watched. I don’t know about her singing, but I do like her because she’s a Republican! Go Maggie!, er I mean Go Janine!
Those “Classic Country” song choices by the artists they asked cover some great songs. To me the strangest choices are Craig Morgan choosing Charlie Rich’s “Behind Closed Doors”, Bucky Covington choosing Earl Thomas Conley’s “Holding Her and Loving You” (although I really like that song), and David Nail choosing Glen Campbell’s “Country Boy – You’ve Got Your Feet in L.A.”. Hey David, that’s just whacked-out man…
Gosh, so patty Loveless wants to do something wit a “rock edge” eh? I can hardly wait! (lol)

I about cried when I read about the dear Little Nashville Opry centered in beautiful Brown County, Indiana. Many good nights of country was performed there. I hope they salvaged some of it and will rebuild.
Twitter was fired up Sunday night about the Taylor snub to a country station but live interview with a pop station. I don’t get why people were upset. Taylor, Big Machine, are pushing for genre domination. She already has country and she was just making sure she grabbing more pop fans especially with the MTV award.

I listened to a pre-recorded replay of the Americana Awards show on WSM last Friday Night and there were announcements from the stage that the whole Americana music scene was on the ascendancy! Hmm….
Grant Langston put on a great, free live concert at L.A.’s Grand Ole Echo Club yesterday to the few lucky folks in attendance. Once football season gets rolling the attendance at the Sunday afternoon concerts just plummets, so they mostly cease for the fall and winter months. Country Standard Time has a great interview with Grant and I really like the question about the state of L.A.’s country music scene, although Grant’s answer seems a bit abstract to me. Grant could have just said “The country music scene in L.A. just kinda sucks these days…” (lol)
