Think and want are vastly different.
My predictions are in my blog (although I admit to being slightly wishy washy on some)

Just for the hell of it, here are mine:

Entertainer- Brad Paisley
Male Vocalist- George Strait
Female Vocalist- Carrie Underwood
Horizon- Taylor Swift
Vocal Group- Rascal Flatts
Vocal Duo- Sugarland
Single- Before He Cheats, Carrie Underwood
Song- Stupid Boy, Keith Urban
Album- Dierks Bentley, Long Trip Alone
Vocal Event- Because of You, Reba McEntire w/ Kelly Clarkson
Video- Online, Brad Paisley

Although I picked Carrie Underwood to win Female Vocalist of the Year, I think Reba and Martina were both nominated this year for a reason. Perhaps the voters intend on breaking the tie for most wins in the category. I wouldn't be surprised if Martina received it.

The Horizon Award is all Taylor Swift this year. Although she hasn't had a #1 single, let a lone 3 of them like Atkins had, she has put out a high-quality album that's been selling very well. Her constant touring and exceptional writing skills compensate for her slow climbs on the singles charts. The singles stats is the only thing Atkins has on Swift IMO. Since getting a #1 song doesn't exactly line the pockets of the labels, I'll go with Swift.

I predicted Dierks will win the Album of the Year because it was my favorite release of 2006, and I know the voting history in this category. The CMA sometimes goes with quality over quantity (There's More Where That Came From- Lee Ann Womack- 2005) and I think this year will be one of those times.

I wish I could say that my predictions matched up with my personal picks, but for the most part, they didn't. It's been a long time since the CMA aligned with my tastes, but they did for a couple of years there in the early and mid-90's.

I really don't have strong feelings about the Duo category except for not wanting to see Brooks and Dunn win it again. As it was established in a different post on The 9513, the quality of their work decreases with each new release from them. They have monopolized this category for way too long. In my opinion, Sugarland, Montgomery Gentry, and Big and Rich are all very worthy of receiving the award, and moreso than Brooks and Dunn.

Yes, that's a very good point, guys. This list is very much a list of predictions, not personal preferences. I don't think Sugarland has a chance in hell of winning the Duo award considering that they obviously, given their lack of other nominations, have very little support at the moment. Picking Big & Rich to win in that category is already a risky move, and they have the weight of the WB group behind them.

I so agree, who I think should win and who will win are two totally different things. I also agree I cannot believe that no one picked Sugarland, especially after the year that they have had....but again who we want to win does not always matter, we just have to support our favorites by seeing them in concert and buying their music.....

I'm surpised no one picked Sugarland for Vocal Duo of the Year, especially after Jim wrote that piece on the duo getting snubbed of an Album of the Year nomination. But like I said, who WILL win and who you WANT to win are not always the same.
