The 9513’s 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway: On The First Day of Christmas…
The 9513’s 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway
It’s been a wonderful year here at The 9513, and this holiday season, we’d like to give a little bit back to you, our loyal readers. Ok, I lied–we’d like to give a lot back. So we’ve cleaned out the prize vault and teamed up with some of our label friends to put together 12 days of awesome giveaways. And winning is just as easy as ever.
Every day from now until December 25th, visit The9513.com for your chance to enter a drawing for that day’s unique prize pack. The prize packs will start out small (like today’s) and get slightly bigger as the days go on, all leading up to a grand prize drawing which will be announced on Christmas.
Here are the rules:
- Winners will be selected each day via a random selection method.
- You can enter every day, but you can only win once.
- If you win a prize on day one, and then again on day two, for example, you’ll only receive day two’s prize pack (you’ll receive the largest you win). We’ll select another winner for the smaller prize.
- On the twelfth day (Christmas), we’ll put all of the entries into a sweepstakes for the grand prize pack. (Winning the grand prize forfeits any earlier prize packs you may have won).
- Up to one entry per day will be entered into the grand prize drawing, so you should visit The9513.com to increase your chances of winning. (But seriously, why aren’t you already visiting every day?)
- All entries will be in the form of comments posted to the designated articles on The9513.com, and those comments must include a valid email address so that we can contact you for shipping information if you win. email addresses are not visible to the public and will never be shared with third parties without your consent.
- Entrants must be 13 years of age or older, or have permission from their parents to enter.

Received – In 1977 I got a camera. A nice Cannon 35mm with all the accessories. The fun part was I got each accesory in a seperate package. Camera, strap, lens, film, batteries, flash …. all in seperate packages. It was a pretty snazzy camera for that time (and still is actually) so that was pretty much all I got, but it felt like a lot because it was such a great gift that I really wanted and it came in lots of packages to open.
Gave – cant remember the year, but I got my brother a tool box. Q: How do you wrap a tool box? A: You dont. You give him a card with a note (a little rhyming verse actually) that tells him where to look for the next clue (which is another rhyming verse). You make one of those clues eventually take him outside during which time the tool box appears next to the Christmas tree. That was fun!

10 years ago I proposed to my wife while we exchanged Christmas presents. Her last “gift” was an “ornament” on the tree.

My most memorably Christmas present was a new Monte Carlo from my parents when I was 18. It also served as a graduation present …

Uh Oh, its getting so close to Christmas I’ll have to stop using my favorite nicknames for artists I don’t care for until Christmas is past…
Best gift received: In 1967 when I was 11 my parents gave me a slightly used Honda S-65 motorcycle to use as a dirt bike in the fields that existed around our neighborhood back then. It was kind of like the guy equivalent of a girl getting a pony…..

I’ve received many great presents, and I am thankful for them all. I remember giving my dad a drillbit set when I was a ki. He said, “Thanks, but I don’t really need drillbits.” I told him, “Yeah you do…I just ran your set over.”

I got a John Denver Guitar for Christmas one year. It was by far the greatest gift I have ever received.
My favorite gift I ever gave was a bracelet to my girlfriend

My most memorable gift is not really something specific but of Christmases past with my family when I was growing up. I know that sounds a little vague and not really an answer; but since I don’t get to spend Christmas with my family each year now like I did then, it makes me appreciate the “gift” of being with them so much more now than I ever thought I would.
To all my family and friends that I miss so greatly — Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!!

The most memorable gift I’ve ever gotten was Garth Brook’s box set a few years back. I forgot to ask for it and I didn’t actually get it that morning, but it was the last gift I got at my aunt’s house and it was just an awsome surprise for me.

Most memorable gift I’ve given? Well, it’s certainly not the most expensive (by far), but the most memorable gift I’ve given dates back to my Elementary years. Some people were at my school, selling all kinds of Christmas decor in the glass hallway. I believe I was in Kindergarten. My teacher had announced we’d be making rounds every day of that week, and if we wished to purchase something, we should bring our money. That night, I went home, took out all of the pennies, dimes, quarters, and nickels in my Loony Toons bank (because I was way too cool for a piggy bank!), went to school the next day, and purchased two ornaments, one for each of my parents. The kind lady packaged them in a brown lunch bag, which I oh-so discreetly kept hidden in my backpack, and managed to hide even on our three-hour road trip to visit family for Christmas, and waited until everyone had finished trading gifts. Then, I came out to the center of the large family room, dragging mommy behind me (dad wasn’t there with us), had her sit in a chair I managed to pull out with some help, and presented her with the feeble brown bag. (Almost) Crystal-clear memory that I will forever treasure. =)

My favorite christmas gifts I got when I was 8. I got a Presidential bike and a barbie doll. My dad got a Christmas bonus on Christmas eve, I think the story goes that it was $50.00, and that is what it took to get the bikes out of layway at 2 Guys (remember that dept store?). We were poor, but I never knew it. My parents were and still are the best. Merry Christmas.

What it your favorite, or the most memorable, Christmas gift you’ve ever given or received?
I thought first of my Bach Stradivarius silver Trumpet I received my first year in college. But then thought that I should have thought of something more emotional like when I got engaged on Christmas day..but then that ended in divorce 3 years ago (his decision). Then it came to me- the biggest surprise two years ago. I was only 5 (ok I’m 50 here), when I saw the Beatles at the Indiana State Fair. I was up on my Daddy’s shoulders as I wanted to see them as you couldn’t hear a thing with all the screaming going on around us. Also, my Dad being a farmer was always taking us to the farm area of the fair. To our surprise, right there in the middle of the pig smells, came a limousine. My Dad immediately said, I bet that’s those Beatles, sneaking in where no one thought they’d be. Just then the window rolled down and there was Paul, smiling and waving at me. I remember that day like it happened yesterday.
Two years ago at Christmas my older brother handed me a present. This was odd as the family has gotten so big that we don’t give presents to each other anymore. I opened it and it was a copy of the original advertisement for the Beatles being at the Indiana State Fair.

The most memorable Christmas present I got was when I got a new camera. I was always taking photos, but I needed a better camera. So after looking and researching and trying out cameras, I found one and told my parents that is what I wanted. To this day I still use the ole Minolta from time to time and one of the lens I use with my DSLR camera. Both have seen many faces and many places. My interest in photography bloomed and helped start a little “side career” on top of my full time job.
My favorite present to give will be this year. It is my parents 35th wedding anniversary as well. For both, we are getting them a trip to Nashville with front row seats to the Opry at the Ryman (they have never been), as well as other goodies. Needless to say I hope that they like it! We use to visit Nashville all the time growing up. My dad is a truck driver for a long time and this will also be a good break for him without having to be out on the road working.

The most memorable thing ever received was when I moved to Austin in December 2005. I moved here a few weeks before Christmas, knew no one and most of my friends did not have my address. An ex of mine sent me a tin of Williams-Sonoma peppermint bark. It came in the mail on 12/23 and was the only physical gift I got that year. Totally made my holiday and I still have the tin it came in.

I would have to say when I was 6 my father came home for Xmas. I was raised by my grandparents so this one was special and he bought all of us presents including for me a shiny new red bike w training wheels. It was my pride & joy. He played Santa and filled all the stockings to the brim. A wonderful memory.

And when I wrapped it around myself, I remember telling my Dad, “This reminds me of Garth Brooks song- ‘Wrapped up in you’”! And he started laughing. That was a great Christmas. I got A LOT of Rascal Flatts stuff. Haha! <3

My parents never had a lot of money, and remember back when Cabbage Patch kids were all the rage — some woman where I went to church heard me talking about the one I wanted, down to the dress, the hair, everything — and since she was getting one for her granddaughter — she found just the right one for me — and on christmas eve, there was a knock on the door, and we saw a car driving away and packages on the front porch and I knew the box shape and just had to open it — years later I learned out who gave it to me and I still tear up knowing what a wonderful and amazing thing she did for me eventhough she didnt have to and the joy that she brought to me (especially since I brought that doll to christmas services with me and I know she saw it!) and she is the reason that I do whatever I can for families in need during the holiday season.

Actually my most memorable is this year, having my brother in law here after receiving not one but two liver transplants, for the grace of god he is well and he is here for a special reason. Atleast he is here, and thank you so much to the people the are organ donors who have given him this second and third chances at life, he does not take it lightly and is in the process on giving back to the hospital and the programs that saved his life.
