It tends to have a lot of songs just not assigned to any albums, as that often relies on the record company to do it. If nobody has, then said artist just has tons of unassigned songs. The 'official' album pages compiled by the labels are frequently wrong or badly named, too. Last.fm’s album database is notoriously dodgy. And that does affect the charts when something is labeled differently. For instance, Reba's new single is actually our #1 track this week, but 5 people have it labeled Reba and 5 more as Reba McEntire, giving it 2 separate entries. I use the auto-correct feature on my Last FM account too – I label my songs for my own use and sometimes it’s different from the actual title or artist name. I don't know how comprehensive its albums database is, either, but I think it's pretty accurate for the most part.
