I discovered him about five years ago when I bought Smoke Rings In The Dark. After that I bought all of his previous albums and his newer ones as they were released. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend any one of them, but I still remain partial to Smoke Rings In The Dark. It doesn't get old no matter how many times I replay it.

Ditto on Gary Allan. He's a direct descendent of the Bakersfield sound family of Buck/Merle/Dwight, and one of the best quality and most country artists on radio today. Perhaps some of his lack of recognition has to do with him being from California. Gary has been conspicuously overlooked in recent years for CMA nominations and other industry awards; of course, Buck Owens and Dwight Yoakam never won any CMA awards either. Nashville likes its own.
