Taylor Swift Dishes On Her Obession With a Certain Anatomy
- Taylor Swift explains her love for Grey’s Anatomy in her latest MySpace blog post, and announces that Fearless will be released with 13 songs.
- MySpace, in conjunction with the four major labels, launched their new music service today. It allows you to access and listen to a large portion of major artists’ catalogs for free. You’re also able to build an infinite number of playlists with up to 100 songs per list. And if you’d like to purchase a song, it’ll download through Amazon’s mp3 service without ever leaving MySpace, as long as you’re signed into both services. The labels, in turn, will take a stake in the revenue that’s brought in from advertising.
- Kellie Pickler added a few songs from her upcoming album to MySpace. Look for “Best Days of Your Life,” “Somebody to Love Me” and “Rocks Instead of Rice.” Plus you can listen to all of her previous material courtesy of the new MySpace Music deal. (via indulgedcountrymusic)

- The Country Music Association announced that they’ll be giving the Country Music Hall of Fame $200,000 per year for the next five years, a total of $1 million, for their “Words & Music” program.

- In an interview with Chet Flippo, Patty Loveless talks about her new album, Sleepless Nights, the inspiration behind the songs that she chose to cover and her approach to the recording sessions.
- Toby Keith ranks number three on Forbe’s list of the world’s best paid music stars, right behind the Police and Beyonce, with $48 million in earnings between June 1, 2007 and June 1, 2008.
- For their latest episode, Nashville at Night’s Ashlie Kolb interviewed a new group that goes by the name of Telluride. The band derived their name from a Tim McGraw song that a fan submitted, which she felt characterized each of the different members.

- Hickory Wind’s Brendan McKennedy rips the new Old Crow Medicine Show album, Tennessee Pusher, while PopMatters‘ Aarik Danielsen calls it one of the better releases of 2008. We've labored long and hard to come up with our list of the Top 10 Country Albums of 2008. Click here to see who claimed the honor of the year's top album, as chosen by The 9513's staff and writers.
Don’t confuse disappointing with worst, as that list would most likely be dominated by obscure indie knockoff bands along with a couple of mainstream releases. There has to be a modicum of expectation that’s dashed upon the release of an album for it to qualify for the year’s most disappointing.
Join host Kelly Dearmore as he shines the light on several noteworthy album releases you might have missed and interviews various artists, from Sarah Borges to Trent Willmon and Reckless Kelly to Wade Bowen, in the first two episode of The 9513 podcast.
Jim Malec counts down the top 20 country music news stories of 2008. How many times do you think John Rich will be mentioned?

Dammit! Forgot to tell you beforehand.
I’m going to try to start featuring more country blogs in that section. At this point there are at least six I look at every day without fail.

I’ve never been much of a Conway Twitty fan as everything about him just seemed kind of phony. A show based upon the life and music of artists like Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, or Waylon Jennings would be far more interesting to me…
Since I didn’t win a copy of the OCMS CD, it’s good to know some reviewers don’t much care for it…(lol)
And in my continuing quest to prove to doubters here that Kellie Pickler is real country through and through, here is a sentence from Hazel Smith’s latest “Hot Dish” column from the CMT News section:
“Dolly Parton is still Kellie’s No. 1 idol. After Dolly, she just loves classic country music such as Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn. She doesn’t watch much TV but does enjoy the Discovery Channel’s Planet Earth, her chance to learn about the world.”
I guess Kellie is still trying to verify that Hungary is indeed a country in Eastern Europe…..

It’s cool that she loves Dolly and all, but since her music is in no way comparable to Dolly, in style or quality, it doesn’t really matter who she says are her biggest influences.
