Country Music Visionary Porter Wagoner Passes On
It’s a somber day for country music and its fans.
Mr. Wagoner’s death was announced tonight by a publicist for the Grand Ole Opry. Mr. Wagoner — who was honored on May 19 for his 50 years as an Opry member- died at 8:25 p.m. at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

Porter Wagoner Transferred To Hospice
According to WSM DJ Eddie Stubbs, Porter Wagoner’s lung cancer is moving aggressively and on Friday Porter was transferred from the hospital to a hospice care facility. The Associated Press has more info.

Don’t confuse disappointing with worst, as that list would most likely be dominated by obscure indie knockoff bands along with a couple of mainstream releases. There has to be a modicum of expectation that’s dashed upon the release of an album for it to qualify for the year’s most disappointing.
