Sugarland – “Everyday America”
I’ll admit that with the exception of “Baby Girl,” I’ve never liked a Sugarland song the first time I heard it. Several have grown on me, but even after listening to their most recent release several times, I can’t find any redeeming value. True, Jennifer Nettles is an incredibly dynamic vocalist, but I’m tiring of her strong vocals and sex appeal propping up mediocre songs. The truth is, “Everyday America” sounds like something straight out of the most recent Dodge Truck or Farmer’s Insurance commercial. Sugarland seems to have settled into releasing context-less slice-of-life songs that exhibit no creativity in their construction or worldview. This song is still better than a lot of radio material, but aren’t these people supposed to be songwriters?

I was a little confused when they sang “Stay” at the CMT Awards and then came out to sing Everyday America and it is their new release. It isn’t as strong as their other songs and I think it is the simple fact that all you here is “ahhhh….” and “ohhhHHHhooohhh” throughout the song. Just downright annoying if you ask me.
“Stay” was a lot stronger material and more heartfelt than “Everday America.” If I’m not mistaken, E.A. is being used for Good Morning America’s campaign….aww “commercial success”.

what are you talking about ‘everyday america’ is a classic i love jennifers voice. sugarland is my favourite country band.
everyday america is my favourite song, its the type of song that when i listen to it over and over agian i can never get bored of it, it makes me smile when i am down, it almostlifts my spirits, and the lyrics of the song actually means something, maybe you do not understand it because you do not like or just do not want to listen to them, nut i can guarantee you that if you gave them a chance you will love them the way i do.
