As for future plans, Dunn is already working on an album he plans to release next year. (via Quotable Country)

Price said that his relationship with country music “got real nasty” when he found success recording pop songs.
He recalled, “I said I was sorry they were upset but, if they didn’t like it, they could kiss my exposed rear end. I’d taken a lot of crap. They tried to tell me I had left country music, which was a lie. “They were just upset because I left Nashville.”

Margaret Ann Rich was a supremely talented songwriter who long worked in her husband’s shadow, apparently quite willingly. She is severely underrated and underappreciated. Unfortunately, Charlied died at too young an age for them to enjoy retirement together

It’ll be fun to hear the Chicks do a Steve Martin song.

Can’t imagine Brooks having any ground to stand on as far as songs go since only DUNN’s voice was featured and EVERYONE EVERYWHERE knows that it is Dunn’s voice that made B&D what they were.
It always stuck me that Brooks would think he had an equal part. Good grief.
Reminds you of another supposed duo as in Sugarland. But they are even less of a duo that B&D.

Not to rain on anyone’s “sharing” parade, but I wonder if Mister The Selvedge Yard bothered to get permission before posting all those pics, given that the guy whose work they actually are has his own website for the book at http://www.honkytonkbook.com/index.html .

Good to know she has found her marketing niche.

Julianne Hough is gorgeous and so talented. Great Video!

Looking forward to Bingham’s new release.

Trailer’s “Fun With Charts & Graphs” features are always a double hoot! Fun stuff!
Julianne Fluff has created the first really, really, really soft porn mainstream country music video featuring “exotic dance” moves galore! The only thing missing was a pole and five dollar bills stuffed in the top of her short pants. I’d say the LDS Elders probably did not give their stamp of approval…
I would urge readers with mostly conventional tastes in music to avoid Craig Shelburne’s recommended “obscure artist” albums like the plague…
Love Ray Price’s comments and he hasn’t mellowed at all with age! When asked these days about what he thinks of the current stuff marketed as Top 40 mainstream country, a reply of “Nashville can kiss my ass” would be mild in comparison to how he truly feels! (lol)

That new Randy Rogers Band song has me even more excited for their new album.

Margaret Ann Rich wrote many a great songs for her husband, I’m a huge Charlie Rich fan and I can say without her he never would have made it far since she supported him all the way like getting the connection to Sun records where he had his first hit – just one thing besides standing by him all the way; and her songs were recorded by many other people too which shows she’s more than just a sidewoman, but still in his shadow, yes. Charlie Rich just had the 15th anniversary of his death yesterday – a very underrated artist far beyond country music too.
Love the “they could kiss my exposed rear end” quote by Ray Price. Just shows how unreasonable hate for Pop-Country is nothing new, he’s a great singer who did right in branching out – nothing like his voice!

The obit says Margaret Ann and Charlie Rich raised four children… but lists only TWO as her survivors. Does anyone know what happened to the other two?

Stormy,
If you are being tongue-in-cheek, I totally agree with you.
Yet another MTV-influenced sex-pot. It’s getting old.
July 26, 2010 at 10:20 pm
Acutally, I’m not being tongue in cheek. Hough need something to sell her music and the singing ain’t going to do the trick.
July 27, 2010 at 5:54 am
Great video of Julianne. I’ve done that too, dancing around the room. Pretty sure her DWTS n pop fans liked it, but lot of country fans might not, especially that one part. Julianne has to be careful w/her dance moves, ok to dance but must b a little more classy n not have anything that is a little over the top for her country fans whom she has to impress the most.
July 27, 2010 at 8:25 am
Good point, Kanani. Anyone can see that Julianne is a beautiful girl, so I don’t know why she thinks she needs to strip down in order to be fully appreciated.
July 27, 2010 at 8:30 am
“Got herself a record deal, can’t even sing a note”
Yet even more bubble-gum pop music made in Nashville by a smokin’ hot girl with a risque video…
Sure hope that a true hard country singer, Ashton Shephard gets another shot at releasing another album. They are both on the same label and likely had similar sales of their debut albums, so I look forward to Ashton’s second album.
July 27, 2010 at 8:57 am
That Julianne Hough video has got to be the most shameless piece of garbage ever produced on country music. What the hell did was the purpose of the striptease routine? I guess Stormy had it right as she ain’t selling any records based on her voice.
Lucas, you are right about Ashton Shephard – she must love seeing this piece of garbage and having to share a label with the no talent Julianne Hough!
July 27, 2010 at 9:16 am
So, I take it we’re arguing now that you’ve got to be a good singer to sell records?
July 27, 2010 at 9:24 am
You can say what you want about Julianne Hough, but that girl has got an AWESOME voice.
July 27, 2010 at 9:54 am
kanani
July 27, 2010 at 5:54 am Permalink Great video of Julianne. I’ve done that too, dancing around the room.
I have done that dancing around my bedroom too, but the videos have an extremely limited viewing audience.

July 27, 2010 at 9:16 am Permalink So, I take it we’re arguing now that you’ve got to be a good singer to sell records?
No. We saying that this particular singer isn’t using her voice to sell.
July 27, 2010 at 10:39 am
…is that so wrong? that’s a rhetorical question, ain’t it?
July 27, 2010 at 10:44 am
Stormy and Lucas,
Both right on!
July 27, 2010 at 11:05 am
Julianne Hough has not created the first “soft core” video. That would be every Toby Keith, Trace Adkins, Darryl Worley video from the past 10 years, that didnt have a military theme.
July 27, 2010 at 11:13 am
Stewman,
Have to agree there. It really is getting sooooo MTV-like. As the Hag asked, “Are the good times really over for good?”
July 27, 2010 at 11:34 am
Stewman
Also, Faith Hill writhing under a sheet for Breathe wasn’t exactly PG.
July 27, 2010 at 1:11 pm
Lucas, Ashton Shepherd’s second album is supposed to be released this year and the first single is expected to be released this month. I’ll be surprised if she gets anywhere with it, because it’ll probably be a little too country for radio! I love Ashton!
July 27, 2010 at 1:33 pm
Don’t forget “I Melt” video. The girl is nude in the shower, then she’s walking through the room with what appears to be Joe Don’s underwear on about to attack him. Then when Joe Don stands up and exposes his bottom, I realized those can’t be his underwear. They would have been too large!LOL!
July 27, 2010 at 3:56 pm
I agree, that Julianne Hough video is ridiculous but I guess its what she has to resort to since her voice can’t sell her music. I laughed a few times at how absurd it was…what a piece of trash.
July 27, 2010 at 5:48 pm
wow!! Loving the song, and reaaaaaally diggin’ the Hough video. Whew. To steal a line: “…She gives me needs…” ;) Man, that is smokin’. It’s an awesome song to begin with, and that girl can really move. Again, say what you want about the suggestiveness, but she has great co-ordination and grace in the moves. That girl is an athlete, plain and simple, and I can only imagine what ol’ Chucky is thinking as he watches that. Whooooo baby.
July 28, 2010 at 7:07 am
…lots of pop-country, some reggae-country, almost porn-country and we’re only in the middle of 2010. not bad for a genre that some falsely consider to be a little backwoods.
July 28, 2010 at 8:29 am
I guess I shouldn’t have expected any more from Julianne Hough. Her latest is that she is dating Ryan Seacrest, who is about 15 years older.
I think the video, the new crappy Footloose movie in which two actors have already dropped out of because it is so bad, and being seen making out with Ryan Seacrest all over Italy is her last grasp at attention. Julianne, It is time to get back to Dancing with the Stars and do what you do best, shaking that moneymaker!
July 30, 2010 at 5:40 pm
Hough is so bad.. N that body.. Nuthin wrong with dancin round the house and u ain’t seeing anything u wouldn’t c with a bathing suit on..
