Between canceled shows and a CMA Entertainer of the Year snub, fans of pop-country duo Sugarland have had a rough go of it in recent months. Sadly, there’s more bad news on the way: doctors have ordered Kristian Bush on vocal rest, forcing the duo to cancel none of its upcoming concert appearances.

Well, John Lennon was quoted as saying that the Beatles were bigger then Jesus so I guess from this quote Taylor Swift is bigger then both:

Jennifer Aniston plans to sing and play an instrument in her next flick The Goree Girls.
“She can sing,” the movie’s director, Michael Sucsy, tells E! Online. “And she’s going to learn how to play the Dobro [guitar].”
The drama — a departure for Aniston, who normally stars in romantic comedies — is based on a true-life story about a group of women imprisoned in Texas who start a country and western band.
“These women learned to harmonize and they learned to play instruments,” Sucsy says. “They weren’t these amazing, accomplished singers who banded together. That’s what’s interesting about it.”
“It’s not just like, ‘Hey, you can play the guitar, I can play the piano, I can play the harmonica. Let’s put a band together,’” he goes on. “It’s like, ‘We have to get out of jail, and if we have to put a band together to do that, then that’s what we’re going to do.’ ”
Sucsy plans to cast real-life musicians alongside Aniston, 40, for the band, he says.
Aniston — who is also producing the movie (out next year) — last sang while guest starring on 30 Rock, where she serenaded Alec Baldwin for his birthday.

I was saddened when I heard about Garrison Keillor’s stroke, but I’m glad it was minor. They have those medicines available now that if administered quickly after a stroke can minimize the lasting effects. Saturdays just won’t be the same when he is no longer able to perform on A Prairie Home Companion. Hopefully that won’t happen for a long, long time.
Wow, that guy marrying Lucinda Williams must be a masochist. Either that or he wants a bigger percentage of her take! (lol) Is Tom Overby any relation to Amber Digby’s step-dad the steel guitar wizard Dickie Overby? Hmm….
Tom Russell said: “It’s all I have at present. I believe in this record, and I don’t believe in much else.” Don’t forget Tom that you also believe in illegal immigration from Mexico as epitomized in your song “Who’s Gonna Build Your Wall”.
I’m enjoying the Ricky Skaggs songs but would never buy an album with such sparse instrumentation. I like the old-timey, rootsy stuff to a point but this presentation is a little too rootsy for me. Fans of Gillian Welch and David Rawlings should like this one.

TBB seems to be the wunderkind of roots music, between the Robert Plant/Alison Krauss record and latest albums from John Fogerty, BB King and Elvis Costello. Can’t wait for the record with Nelson. Can we expect another 3 records from the man next year?
And as much as I like Taylor Swift, she is NOT BIGGER THAN THE FREAKING BEATLES! Nobody is. Or ever will be.

Leeann, just go to the ILike link and listen to all of the Ricky Skaggs’ songs in their entirety to hear for yourself. The most noticeable feature of this album is the sparse instrumentation, but I guess for a “solo” record it makes sense! (lol)

Addressing the Taylor Swift Story on Tennessean.com and the moronic quote by Wade Jensen of Billboard Magazine…………………..
WOW…I didn’t realize her Dad was a silent partner in Big Machine…but that would explain a lot. Like the 7 figures he plopped down to get her a deal..or bankroll the label too. It doesn’t explain the 6 figures her Dad dropped to get her on the George Strait tour…bumping Kellie Pickler off. It will be a relief when her fans grow out of listening to her and supporting this machine of awful singing.
AND…
“Bigger Than The Beatles??”….PLEASE!!! What an ignorant statement. The term “artist” actually applies to The Beatles…unlike most of morons that pick up a microphone these days. The Beatles were great writers, great musicians with influence that resonated SO loud in their time, continues to today and will continue as long as their music is accessible. Let’s see what the Soundscan charts say next week after the Beatles’ reissues are counted.
The Beatles NEVER had more than 8 track recording….Mostly using 2 and 4 track recording for the majority of their artisty. They didn’t have or NEED Pro-Tools or Antares tuning software.

Even if Swift’s father did help bankroll parts of her career, there’s no doubt that she’s got something that his money couldn’t buy. There are plenty of rich people, including already established celebrities, who have tried to make it in this business, but haven’t successful. So, I really don’t think her father’s money has much real bearing on her ultimate success. Likewise, is there something that substantiates that Swift’s dad paid the Strait people off to bump Pickler from their tour? It’s possible that I’ve missed that bit of news, but that’s as much of an indictment on Strait as it would be on Swift, if it’s actually true.

With a little help from their fans, The Beatles again rule the marketplace as Fab Four fever greeted Wednesday’s release of the band’s remastered catalog and The Beatles: Rock Band.
Discs are moving steadily, with the $260 stereo and $299 mono box sets selling out at many outlets. Even the band’s website alerted buyers that new box orders would not be shipped until late October “due to the incredible demand.”
At Amazon, the stereo and mono sets ranked first and second on the list of music best sellers, even though the site’s allotment sold out the week before and new orders won’t ship for up to six weeks. The Beatles held 15 spots in the top 20.

I’m ordering the remastered Beatles CD’s two at a time to spread out the costs. The individual albums are all in stock and if you order them two at a time you’ll still get free shipping and the total cost is only $5 more then the complete stereo box set…$179 vs $184.

I think that Wade’s statement should be taken as literally as John Lennon’s statement about the Beatles being bigger than Jesus should have been taken.
