Stagecoach Festival Lands Reba, Paisley and Chesney
- Kid Rock, Reba McEntire, Brad Paisley and Kenny Chesney signed on to headline next year’s Stagecoach festival in California. Billboard has a list of other initial performers that includes Jerry Jeff Walker, Miranda Lambert and Dale Watson.
- In her appearance on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show yesterday morning, Taylor Swift revealed that she was, in fact, dating Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers and that he broke up with her via a 27-second phone call. That’s not all, Taylor wrote a song about the incident, “Forever & Always,” which is included on her new album due out next Tuesday. That should net her a few thousand extra album sales.

- The Dallas-based Tejas Brothers (MySpace) play a brand of country inspired by Hank, Cash and Merle and the Tex-Mex of the Texas Tornados, but they didn’t get their break until Eleven Hundred Springs pulled the fledgling band “out of obscurity pronto.” Vocalist and accordionist Dave Perez explains:
“(Bassist) Steve Berg found us surfing on MySpace and liked what we’re doing. He’s from San Antonio, so he understood the sound pretty quickly,” Perez said. “Those guys took us under their wing and exposed us to every fan they have around Dallas and Fort Worth. They doubled our fan base at every show.”

- Music Tomes’ week long celebration of Douglas B. Green’s new book Classic Country Singers continues today with a giveaway. You need only to leave a comment for a chance to win. The celebration will wrap up tomorrow (I think) with an interview with “Ranger Doug” himself.

The initial line-up for the Stagecoach Festival in Billboard looks very promising.

Stagcoach is my kinda festival. Great acts fill the early time slots and smaller stages, so I can avoid the mind-numbing crowds that gather at night for the lame-a** headliners….

Two things of note from the People link. First, a free Trailer Choir song is still overpriced. Second, James House is 53?!? Holy crap. I remember how happy I was when he finally got a hit song after a couple of good albums went completely unnoticed. I hope he gets some new music out soon.

Speaking of 1100 Springs, they will be back in Los Angeles this month at The Redwood Bar in downtown. The interesting Sunday “Americana Brunches” line-ups this month include:
November 9th: Featuring Jessie Dayton (hey, where’s Brennen Leigh?), The Railbenders, Mike Stinson and West of Texas
November 23rd: Featuring Eleven Hundred Springs, The Palominos, and Sarah Gayle Meech

At People.com I was really hoping that the song from Sarah Buxton would be “Space” and not an oldie off her digital EP. Also, the picture they have with the Patty Lovelss song doesn’t even look like her!
A Hank III interview will never be mistaken for Carrie Underwood…..

Is it me or the photo of Patty Loveless on the People Magazine’s download not Patty Loveless? Looks like Jamie O’Neal. Nevermind…it is Jamie O’Neal – same photo that is shown for her a few clicks over.
I bought the Hank III album last night and have to say that I’ve let it whirl around several times listening to it. There are some good tracks on there and some you have to go “why did they do that?” Great article to read on him.

Cool link for all the free songs! I love “Like A Woman” by Jamie, I heard it on the radio a few weeks ago, and I’m glad to have it, along with the others, on my ipod.

I downloaded some of the songs from the ‘People’ link … I think “All The Crap I Do” Mark Wills, is now my new favorite song. (For the moment anyway) :-)
