  • Big State Festival: Early bird tickets go one sale June 5th at 7am.
  • Trace Adkins says that his management company, record label, and publicist hate it when he wears his hair down, “They just hate it when it’s down, so I wear it down just to make ‘em mad.” He also notes that he hasn’t ruled out the idea of cutting his hair, but if he ever does he’ll get a crew cut.
  • Sun-Sentinel has a Q&A with Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush of Sugarland fame.

How has the chemistry changed as you’ve transitioned from trio to duo?

The dynamic naturally changes in any situation when you [formerly had] three people trying to make decisions or meld their creative energy. Jen and I have real common moral and spiritual senses. So we’re able to divide and conquer a lot of things, where before it took a little longer.

Did he kind of just throw Kristin Hall under the bus?

  • Take Country Back posted two new videos of Joey Allcorn performing live.
  • John Rich lavishes Jewel with praise:

The Jewel project differs from John’s others in that he’s serving solely as producer rather than collaborating on the songs. “I tried to write with her,” he says, “and I couldn’t even get to that spot in my head. She is such an intricately detailed, deep, multi-layered lyricist. It’s mind-boggling, some of the stuff she writes. And her voice is just alien; nobody sounds like Jewel.”

  • Starting June 6th and continuing until November 11th, Marty Stuart will be showcasing a portion of his collection of country music memorabilia. Titled “Sparkle & Twang: Marty Stuart’s American Musical Odyssey,” the exhibit will display “guitars, stage suits, handwritten lyrics and other memorabilia–nearly 1,000 pieces in all–that give a sense of both the outsized and quotidian aspects of country music history.” The same article also discusses some more details of the Marty Stuart produced Porter Wagoner album, Wagonmaster.
  • Mike Kuhl, a New Jersey native who spent some time in Nashville, will be releasing his first album on June 6th. Talking about lessons he learned in Nashville, Kuhl says “I learned that the music industry is 100 percent political. There are so many talented guys down there who don’t get the breaks because they don’t have the connections. You’ve gotta kiss some a** to get in.”
  • Tracy Lawrence is coming out with a greatest hits CD on July 10. The Very Best of Tracy Lawrence will include his Top 10 hits between 1991 and 2004.
  • Kenny Chesney plans on releasing “Never Wanted Nothing More” as the first single from his upcoming album.

I have a ticket to a tour of that museum exhibit to be led by Marty himself on the 6th. Unfortunately, I don’t think that I’ll be able to get away from work.

I’m sure your employer would understand if you didn’t show up for an hour or so, just tell ‘em you were at the Sparkle & Twang exhibit.
