Rick’s Random Tidbits, Part II: I just came across these Julianne Fluff comments from the current SHAPE magazine (at AllAboutCountry.com) and I just had to share them!

I think the bigger problem would be for the suits in Nashville to figure out how to market a gay star.

Many would argue they don’t know how to market any stars these days at least labels not called Capitol and Big Machine.

When the Cherryholmes play bluegrass it’s hard to beat em. I wasn’t overly impressed with the last cd.

I don’t think we’ll see acceptance for gays so widespread that ‘the silent majority’ will be tolerant enough to accept a gay country star; not in my lifetime. I think we’re still generations away from that.

I actually don’t think audiences would have a huge problem with it, as long as the artist wasn’t too flamboyant about it. I don’t think we’re ready for a country version of Boy George yet, but I don’t think people would really care what someone does in their private life. I think the bigger problem would be for the suits in Nashville to figure out how to market a gay star.

Rick’s Random Tidbits: For all you “Old School” (or in my case just “Old”) fans of retail CD’s, this week Best Buy is featuring both the new Holly Williams’ album “Here With Me” and Ryan Bingham’s new release for an introductory price of $8. Even though I have an advance copy of Holly’s CD I plan on buying the retail version as I don’t mind paying for music that’s worth something to me. Well that and the picture of Holly on the front….

I think Julianne and Chuck should be cast as the leads in a remake of “Grease”! At least that would be worth watching….well, maybe anyway.

Interesting comment about the Cherryholmes concert:
“Unfortunately, there was not much of a crowd to enjoy the show. The audience of 902 was the smallest this summer in this series presented by the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. But if the band members were bothered, they never showed it. They knew that they were making fine music for the fans who did turn out. For Cherryholmes, everything is obviously relative.”

See, the problem is that Bluegrass music was not developed in Texas nor by Texans, so they just don’t give a damn down there! (lol) Next time the Cherryholmes just need to add a couple of Bob Wills’ songs to their set when they head to the Lone Star State. As for being disappointed, as long as Jere gets paid their minimum booking fee he doesn’t care if anyone shows up! (lol)
