I don’t think reba’s 50 greatest hits has been promoted right! I don’t see why mca hasn’t released a box set on reba like george strait strait out of the box box set.

Hey Ben, if you would have dropped by The Redwood Bar last Sunday afternoon, you could have witnessed Jesse Dayton and Mike Stinson doing a duet on “Pancho & Lefty”. I don’t think Jesse sang “Loretta”, or if he did I must have missed it.

Taylor Swift’s “Fearless” CD is on sale for $ 10 this week at Best Buy, Target, and Circuit City that I know of. Will its first week sales beat Kenny Chesney’s latest release? Only all the pre-tweens, tweens, and teenyboppers know for sure!

I love Townes’ “Loretta”, it’s probably my favorite Townes song behind “Pancho and Lefty” and “Marie” (though don’t hold me to that), and the Eady version was cool but….

Nooone, even Townes himself, has topped Jesse Dayton’s version. At least in my opinion.

here’s a video of it, it’s a live youtube video so the quality is only so-so, and I think the end glitches, but it’s a good example of what he’s done with the song.

My favorite part of the SESAC Awards report was:

Sorry Taylor, but name checking Tim McGraw in your first single does not make you country. I wonder what Taylor would describe as the typical playlist of a “core country fan”? I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Katy Perry, Colbie Caillat, and Def Lepperd were on Taylor’s list….

Sounds like Terri Clark has had her fill of Top 40 US country radio and the Nashville Big Label process. I wish her success in her new approach. I wonder what type of songs Terri would co-write with the talented fellow Canadian Lisa Brokop? Hmmm…..

Well, I certainly hope the new album will be better that Duets, which was “meh”.
I presumed that was just a marketing stunt, but I guess not. It’s just that she’s been with them for 24 years, and they certainly have been promoting her properly, so I guessed she’d stick with them for the rest of her “radio career”.

I’m not really surprised that she left, Rainbow. After they made such a big deal during all the Duets press that it was her last album on that contract with MCA. Surely her MCA contract has been up for renewal before, and we never heard about it. The fact that Reba and her people made a point to say ‘this is the last album for this contract’ was a big sign post for me.

And I knew Reba would go the way of Scott Borchetta’s label. I more expected Big Machine, but it’s all the same I guess … Here’s hoping Reba’s next album returns her to the music she was making in the 90s and she re-surfaces with an album half as good as Trisha Yearwood’ latest …
