Reba McEntire Duet Album Scheduled For Later This Year And Discussion Continued On Jackson Vs. The Opry
- Brad Paisley’s 5th Gear is set to be released on June 19, but according to Country Standard Time, he hasn’t finished recording the album yet. I don’t know if this is some kind of story cautioning fans that it might be delayed, or if it’s simply a means to keep Paisley’s name fresh in people’s mind before the album is released.
- Check out a couple of sounds clips from David Serby on CD Baby. (Read a review of Another Sleepless Night here).
- Jim Abbott comments on David Ball’s newest album of covers, saying it’s a pleasure to hear the old songs again. “Ball’s twangy tenor is pretty well-suited for the low-key Western swing that his talented ensemble of Nashville studio aces provides.”
- Roy Orbison was born on this day in 1936.
- If you’re looking for something to get excited about, Dale Watson’s new album will be officially released tomorrow. (Read a review of From the Cradle to the Grave here).
- Kellie Pickler verbally smacks those who criticize her path to success. Actually her response isn’t really of the “smack” magnitude, but it’s amazing people have the audacity to say some of the things that they do.
“I’ve been to dinner and had the waitress say something about it,” Kellie says. “She was like, ‘I don’t understand how this is happening to you. We move here in search of making it, playing bars all night and working as bartenders trying to make tips to pay our bills, and nobody gives us a chance. But you just go get in line.’”
- A Reba McEntire duet album is in the works and is due out on September 19, but there’s no word on who will be dueting with McEntire.
- Deke Rivers left a comment on our Stonewall Jackson vs. The Opry post and has a lot of insightful things to share on his own blog, Caffeinated Politics.
The Opry is making a huge mistake by removing some of the performers that made that stage so mighty impressive over the decades. We are displacing a part of the past before they will leave the stage for the last time and go to the biggest Opry show to be played. It does not need to be that way. Gaylord Entertainment is greedy and as a result we all lose something.
