Great stuff with all those interviews from Hank FM, thanks for the link.
So “Toes” is going to be the next single? How exactly are they going to get around the line “ass in the sand”? Aside from that, I think it’s a pretty good summer single choice, and much better “beach music” than Chesney has been trying to make. Hopefully they give that album a 4th single and go with “Free”.

I know Hollerin’ Ben hates it, but I too am a fan of “Toes”. It’s the song that first turned me onto ZBB. Charlie Robison was able to switch “ass” with “self” in “Hometown”, but I dont know if that works in this scenario…

Drew,
Zac Brown said in an interview with Billboard that there will be a 4th single before they move on to the next album.

As far as the CD give aways go here’s the previous results from June 12th “The Devil Makes Three” contest: “Update: The latest winners in our recurring music giveaways are Stormy, Lanibug and Ryan.” The odds of Stormy and Lanibug being winners two contests in a row is, well, very disappointing! (lol)
Favorite “Getting Over You” song: Merle Haggard’s “I Think I’m Gonna Live Forever” ’cause cryin’ ain’t on my list of things to do…

Rick, you might be even more disappointed to learn that your name was dead last in the drawing. So Stormy or Lanibug, either of you want to choose lottery numbers for me?
June 18, 2009 at 12:27 pm Permalink
Brady, when you lose a contest your position in the list of losers just doesn’t seem to matter…(lol). Maybe Stormy and Lanibug have tapped into Hugo’s system on “Lost”!

But then again before these, the last time I won any CD’s on here was my Willie CD’s, so it has been a while…I thought my 9513 love had died….

You won Naked Willie too? OMG LANI, THIS IS JUST FREAKY!

Actually, no I mean, the Willie Nelson box set, forever and a day ago….

Oh good. I was beginning to fear we were supposed to be plotting to take over the world together or something. And that just sounds like a lot of work.

You woulda been a winner if you actually entered, Leeann ;)
In other news, Kellie Pickler, who first became famous because of calamari and is a self-professed lover of fishing has been named PETA’s sexiest vegetarian. Her profile picture on Twitter even featured her fishing and coincidentally changed after PETA’s announcement. It’s much more ghoulish now.

I won swanky Willie braids from The 9513 one time. I’m going to have to be honest and say that I don’t wear them much… except for when I’m writing reviews for the site. Since Willie was voted Country Artist of the Year in The 9513’s First Annual Country Music Awards, I feel like I should keep him on my mind/head when I write for you guys.

You do know that vegetarians eat fish right?

You do know who PETA is, right?
June 18, 2009 at 3:32 pm Permalink
Yeah, and if they have a problem with eating fish I don’t understand it
Vegetarians eating fish is normal – its the substitute for real meat
June 18, 2009 at 3:37 pm Permalink
Oh, dang it! I would have that kind of luck.:) Naw. Since I already bought the album, I figured it would be most ethical of me to let somebody else win.
June 18, 2009 at 3:43 pm Permalink
I guess you don’t know that fish are actually called sea kittens and PETA distributes despicable pamphlets to children telling them their daddies are killers.
June 18, 2009 at 3:48 pm Permalink
I’m sympathetic to vegetarians, as I’ve got more than one vegetarian friend, but PETA is entirely too extreme for me. Then again, I just don’t like extremism in any form.

Leeann, winning things on The 9513 is a slippery slope. Two years ago I won a t-shirt, and just look where I ended up ;-)

Idlewildsouth, I enjoyed the lead headline a whole lot more! (lol) My favorite John Rich article comment:
“Then there’s the affidavit by former bodyguard Robert Smith, who accuses Rich of general conflict-seeking, bullying and severe assholery.” Wow, what a surprise!
June 18, 2009 at 9:14 pm Permalink
While, offensive, that lead story was pretty funny.

It’s the Nashville Scene, honestly, sometimes I wonder with them.

A possible alternative to “ass in the sand” could be “relax in the sand”.
That said, I really don’t understand why it’s necessary to edit it in the first place in this instance.
June 19, 2009 at 1:08 am Permalink
By the way, I surely hope the Zac Brown Band select “Highway 20 Ride” as the final single from their self-titled album, rather than feel as though they have to pander further to “country” stereotypes with “A Different Kind of Fine”.
“Free” would be fine by me too as that’s surely a quality recording (basically the whole rest of the album would never resonate well on Country radio today, sadly, especially songs like “Mary”, “Sic ‘em on a Chicken” and “It’s Not OK”) but “Highway 20 Ride” is the closest to a classic on there.
June 19, 2009 at 8:15 am Permalink
Except for one, the radio stations in my area play Toby’s “boot in your ass” (Angry American) song in its entirety so I’ll be curious to see if they are hypocritical enough to censor “Toes.”
June 19, 2009 at 8:35 am Permalink
I’ll just go on record as saying that I can’t stand “Sic ‘Em on A Chicken.” I know it’s like dedicated to Zac’s now deceased dog and all, but…no.
