Podcast: Episode 005 – Charlie and Dale and Me

Kelly Dearmore | June 4th, 2009 Email Share

As you’ll no doubt notice, I am rather excited to bring you guys this edition. Spending time with two of my favorite fellow Texans and discussing their views on various things while they play me some songs is about as good as it can get. Charlie Robison is back, and he is better than ever. Dale Watson is also better than ever and he’s carrying moonshine, folks. With new albums in tow, neither Robison nor Watson had any problems getting past the usual chit-chat that typically accompanies the press push of a new release. Both artists, who also have no difficulty in ruffling the feathers of others, went into detail on their feelings regarding the landscape of modern country music.

Episode Features

  1. Introduction
  2. Interview with Charlie Robison
  3. Acoustic performance of “Beautiful Day” by Charlie Robison
  4. Interview with Dale Watson
  5. Acoustic performance of “Truckstop in La Grange” by Dale Watson

That was so country that I had to go down to the Country Store, buy a penny postcard, and mail in this comment. Thanks for the podcast.

Finally got the chance to listen to this. Another great (voluptuous) episode. I think I might have a slightly better understanding of the thinking behind the whole Ameripolitan thing now.

Thanks guys for the kind words, and lol, Matt, I was excited :-). I can only imagine this is how 12 year olds feel when they get to hang with Taylor or Miley (without the moonshine…which I did have on the bus with him and it was kinda awesome).

I also dug the Faith Hill/Celine Dion conneciton that Watson made.
