Podcast: Episode 004 – And the Winner Is…

For this podcast, we feature a couple of acts who have been helped along the way by winning talent competitions. Darryl Lee Rush was the inaugural victor of the Shiner Rising Star Contest and Caitlin & Will were victorious on last summer’s Can You Duet from CMT. What I think is most interesting is that, contrary to what we have seen in many cases, to win a Country Music talent competition, you just might actually need to posses real talent. Sit back and enjoy as these two big winners display some of that skill that helped them beat out all who dared challenge them.

I’m with Jim – this is the best episode yet. Great interviews and loved the acoustic performances. I’d never heard of Darryl Lee Rush, but I’ve been a big fan of Caitlin & Will since they were first put together on Can You Duet.
Excellent podcast, man.

“She said it must be one elusive dream/That you’ve been chasin’/Because it seems you would have found yourself by now”
“Burn It Down” has some killer lines.

Hey guys – thanks for all the kind words. Before anyone gives me too much credit, Brady and Brody put in a lot of work when it comes to the editing and layout of the episodes, I just talk and stuff.
Also, Jim is right, along with a couple of big national names (one of which has recently topped the billboard country charts, btw), we have an episode coming up that will likely be used as the prime example of a country music podcast 400 years from now when aliens take over earth and need an example of what Country Music in general really should sound like…

Now I am excited.

This was an amazing episode. Caitlin & Will knocked it out of the park and you turned me into a Darryl Lee Rush fan.

Caitlin has some serious chops. It’s pretty surprising that two of the better female vocalists right now, at least in my opinion, are from “Can You Duet?”

Great edition. I hadn’t heard Darryl Lee Rush before, but he certainly sounds interesting.

I am really glad that everyone seems to notice the quality of the performances. As I have done these interviews, I have been amazed at how each act has given their podcast performance the same effort that I feel they wouldve given to a crowd of thousands…I’ll also add, the C&W performance was done around midnight after a long day of them talking and singing to radio folks, and yet they still sounded great. Caitlin personally picked two of the songs that she felt 9513 readers would enjoy the most, by the way.

DLR is one of my favorite artists. I saw him last week at the Palo Duro/Shiner Showcase and he put on a great show.

Impressive!! I’ve been a DLR fan ever since I received a review copy of Live At the Riverroad Icehouse last year. I’m glad he was featured here. Caitlin really seems like a class act.

My pleasure. Sacrifcing jibber-jabber is a big deal to this dilly-dallyer…
