Pat Green Live At Cowboys Dancehall In San Antonio

The moment Pat Green walked out on the stage last Friday night, I think my heart stopped beating. He has that particular smile that lights up the whole room and makes you feel like it’s just you and him and nothing else. He started out with Cannonball, which is also the title of his latest album. He sounded great and he and his band were filled with energy, jumping up and down and bouncing all over the stage. He didn’t hoard the limelight either, giving each of his band members their time to shine.
At one point in time, one of his guitar strings popped off and he wrapped it up in a ball and gave it to a fan in the audience. He even signed autographs for fans while singing. He made the audience laugh all night by cracking jokes, and left us wondering what he was going to say or do next. He got serious in time to sing I’m Trying To Find It, and said how the song meant a lot to him and to bear with him while he sang through it. Miraculously, I managed to hold mine back, but I saw a few people shed tears while he sang Dixie Lullaby, which is one of my favorite songs at the moment. The band kept playing the song after he was done singing and the whole place came alive, the music left me mesmerized.
We were standing next to members of his fan club, who have supported Pat since day one. They have met him numerous times over the years and got to do so once again during the meet and greet before the show. They got him to sign my ticket stub while we saved their place in front of the stage. Pat interacted with them throughout the show, pointing at them, and giving them smiles. One of the ladies runs his fan club online and gave me a business card, be sure to check it out and join if you’re a big fan of Pat.
After he came back for the encore and sang Wave On Wave, he spotted a man in the crowd and pulled him up on the stage to help him sing the song. I can’t remember his name although he looked strangely familiar (be sure to leave a comment and let us know if you have any idea). Right before the show ended, he said he’d be sitting in the back drinking beer, just hanging out; then he jumped off the stage and the security guards walked him through the crowd to his spot while he finished his song. It was definitely one of the best concerts I’ve witnessed, and hopefully I will be able to attend another one within the next year.

Great pictures, great review!
I’ve never seen him, but he is on my list. I might have to go to Texas to see him; he doesn’t seem to show up here in Colorado.
Thanks for sharing your experience!
