Not In My Town

A few friends and family in Mississippi have formed a group to express their concern over the recent practice of substituting other phrases for the traditional “Merry Christmas.”

The group has composed and recorded a song entitled “Not in My Town” that expresses their belief that, according to the group’s founder Freddie Sanford, “when it comes to this wonderful season, an X just doesn’t get it – not in my town!”

Sanford says the movement is dedicated to “keeping the spirit of the season alive and at home in our hearts.”

In addition to the CD, Sanford and his family and friends have also developed a line of tee-shirts and bracelets expressing their opposition to generic Christmas symbols and phrases and their passion for sharing and restoring to Americans the foundations of Christmas: love, family, and giving THE GIFT back to towns across the country.

You can find out more about what they’re doing on their website. I personally wouldn’t buy any of the products that they have, except for the CD, but I support the cause that they’re promoting.
