‘Noble Things’ to DVD; Trace Adkins/Luke McBain Returns; Best of Bluegrass ‘09
- The film Noble Things, featuring Lee Ann Womack and Tracy Byrd in their big screen debuts, will be released on DVD December 22.
- Feeling Austin was underrepresented on most of the decade lists cropping up, Jim Caligiuri took the liberty of chronologically listing 33 albums released by bands and artists that made living in the “Live Music Capital” more enjoyable.
- Among albums released in 2009, Michael McCall says it’s those who took the greatest chances who often bore the most impressive work. It’s that sentiment that informed his list of the top ten best country albums of the year for Nashville Scene.
- The Trace Adkins comic hero/alter ego Luke McBain is returning for a second installment on December 16.

Outshining Krauss isn’t exactly the easiest thing to accomplish, but the golden-voiced Ronnie Bowman (a bluegrass artist who’s also written chart toppers for Kenny Chesney and Brooks & Dunn) does so on “Please Don’t Tell Me How the Story Ends”. Beautiful lyrics—it is, after all, a Kris Kristofferson song—and a stunning vocal turn from Bowman make the song exquisitely heartwrenching and a must-listen for anyone with even a passing fondness for country music.
- A new, limited-edition screenprint poster of Hank Williams went on sale this morning. The print, titled “Repent,” is by artist Keith Neltner and is limited 44 at $65 apiece.
- Onetime senior radio executive John Chaffee is pursuing his dream of becoming a hit songwriter and his song “Play By the Rules” earned him best country song at last month’s Hollywood Music In Media Awards. The video plays out like a four-minute political cartoon.
- The Tiger Woods controversy made its way to country music through a Cledus T. Judd parody of a Buck Owens classic.
- The folks at Country Universe wrapped up their best of the decade countdown this morning with the final 10 albums, or as the French say, the crème de la crème.

Wow, most of those “Top Whatever” album lists totally suck! Why do all these other people have such poor taste in music compared to me?…(lol)
Roughstock has beaten you guys to the punch with a link to the new Taylor Swift related Christmas song “Merry Swiftmas” from Evan Taubenfeld! I just watched the Chaffee Kid video and its a hoot! Cheer up John, Washington D.C is full of a cheap executive and Demoncrap politicians “playing by the rules” these days! Sadly the rules they are following so well spring from Karl Marx’s “Das Kapital”, “The Antonio Gramsci Reader”, and Odumbo’s personal favorite Saul Alinsky’s’ “Rules For Radicals” (among other choice leftist doctrine staples). In fact Odumbo has followed the rules so well he went to Norway to receive his Nobel “Marxist Piece of Sh*t” Award this week! That’s just awesome….

I’ve always felt like Rick’s comments were made in jest, as true to his belief system(and mine) they may be. Of course, I’m not John Rich, so I’ll let Rick speak for himself on the issue.
