New Year, New Beginnings: Mindy McCready Released From Jail
- Mindy McCready was released from jail just in time for the new year, “I’m the happiest girl in the world right now” she said. Judging from the picture following the link it appears that jail time definitely took a toll on her appearance.
- Nicole Kidman is once again fighting rumors that she is pregnant after the London’s Daily Mail reported that she was. However, back in September she told Vanity Fair that she is “yearning to have” a child with Keith Urban.
- Berklee Music Publishing & Songwriting blogger Eric Beall officially declares the Music Business of 2007 a Disaster Area and lists a few suggestions that might help stop the bleeding.
- John Goodspeed picks the best fifteen country albums of 2007 and then takes it a step further by categorizing the best Nashville Country, Real-Deal Country, and Texas music.
- Jessica Simpson has been well coached on what to say about her new country album due out in 2008. She declined to name songwriting collaborators, but revealed that she will most definitely be involved in the creative process.
But why country, and why now? “I am a country girl,” she says. “I grew up in Texas, and country music was what I listened to. I always wanted to make a country album, but I wanted to wait until the time was right.”

The story behind the album is a nice one: Retired country star develops a low-key second career writing songs with his beloved wife, then agrees to sing those songs on a full-length album that features world-class bluegrass pickers.
