New Study Claims Country Music Listeners Are Hardworking and Outgoing

When Jessica Simpson came on the Opry Saturday night I was compelled to turn the volume off. Jessica is the embodiment of everything I’ve come to dislike about the current Top 40 Fluff Country Radio scene. Having her perform on the same show as Loretta Lynn and Patty Loveless made Jessica even more unbearable, and her looking like a hooker did not in any way redeem her either……

    Rick’s Random Tidbits:
You can vote daily for your favorite “Next GAC Star” until noon on September 10th! My favorites are Lane Turner, Angela Engleman, and J.C. Andersen, all of whom possess enough talent to succeed if AirHead Radio would let them. These current votes will determine which two of the final six will be eliminated before the final show. The final four will compete live on the 10th and votes during the live show will determine the winner. I’m expecting J.C. Andersen to win…

Amber Digby’s new album “Passion, Pride, And What Might Have Been” is now available for ordering through the Heart of Texas label website! I ordered mine this morning. Go Amber!

Jessica’s dress was rather plain if anything, though it was low cut. She looked, and more importantly sounded awful. She’s so awkward on stage too.

And how was the “biggest fan” segment not a ploy to try and help Ol’ Jess make people think she has fans outside of boy’s college dorm rooms?

Patty Loveless, on the other hand, sounded wonderful, and even Crystal S had a good spot.

Is it just me, or is Nan Kelley the hottest woman on Country television?

    Rick,

Lane Turner was previously on WB (but you probably knew that).

    As for the9513 news,

    That Wynonna interview was interesting.

Would someone please explain to me why Wynonna Judd is still considered to be a country artist? It’s been years since she released anything that was even remotely country and she seems to prefer the company of musicians that are outside the genre. I stopped buying her music after her second solo album. The first one was very good, the second one was not bad, but it was all downhill after that.

That interview was very odd. She took advantage of the interviewer’s youth and inexperience and seized control of the conversation. She’s a strange person.

I got this quote from a Carrie Underwood interview off of CMT.com:

“You know, men sweat more than women,” laughed Carrie. “I don’t sweat. But when I was opening shows for Kenny, he would be drenched when the show ended. He’d hug me, and I’d get all wet from Kenny’s sweat. And I’d think about all those girls down front who’d really like to get some Kenny sweat on them.”

I just thought it was funny, and it’s new today, so I thought I’d put it here.

I laughed at the Wynonna interview. I liked when she caught the interviewer just reading a script.

I picked up on the Wynonna interview back around the time it was published (link). I didn’t think either party came off very well, but I’d much rather be interviewed by Ms. Cisar than forced to converse with Wynonna.

Another tidbit from the Jim Lauderdale interview: Lee Ann Womack deserves credit for turning George Strait on to “What Do You Say to That.”

Awesome! I just ordered those Pat Green albums. They weren’t out of stock this time. Thanks for mentioning it. What a great deal.

Leann, I agree about “Flies On The Butter”. The song was on a CDX CD I purchased and it blew me away, easily being as good as anything else the Judd’s ever created in their heyday. It is just one emotionally powerful song. It seems like Wynonna needs Naomi around to keep her on a country track…

I sure wish someone else, anyone else here at The 9513 would jump on “The Next GAC Star” train with me! I would think one of you Nashville based 9513 guys (and you too Matt B.) would want to score an interview with Angela Engleman after the finals because she’s talented, intriguing, and most importantly a red haired hottie! (And smart as a whip to boot.) Oh well…….

Frankly, it’s one of my favorite Judds songs, Rick. I like Wynonna a lot, but it made me really long for the Judds again, even though they technically disbanded when I was 10.:)

I’ve caught The Next GAC Star a couple of times and it always seemed disjointed to me. Maybe it’s the lack of live audiences and the only episodes I’ve seen have just been video clips. I have no idea if that’s the way the show always is though.

I am feeling more and more like a fossil around this place. :(
