I had to let go of the way I did things before. I looked at what my mother was going through, and I thought, ‘If this is my last year, how would I want to spend it?’ I wanted to feed my soul, and not my pocketbook.”

The Brandi Carlile album Give Up The Ghost was a pleasant late-year surprise for me- she has a duet with none other than Sir Elton John called Caroline that’s very fun- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fttL8X9-vx0

Gosh that musical title includes “Brothers of Darkland”! Doesn’t sound very politically correct for those Obamavoters involved in that project…
It was nice to see an Elizabeth Cook song on Grant Alden’s list, but come on “Heather, Are You With Me Tonight?”. Sheesh…
My Kind Of Country’s “Collective” Best Albums List is one of the BEST I’ve seen thus far this month! Its great to see Elizabeth Cook, Sunny Sweeney, and Catherine Britt get some well deserved recognition for their fine albums that went mostly unnoticed (or unreleased in the US in Catherine’s case). If you folks had possession of Elizabeth’s self-titled debut “Blue” album, it likely would have replaced “Hey Y’All” on your list. Can’t say I give a rip about J.R. Journey’s list though…
I say again “SoundsCountry” should actually be renamed to “SoundsAmericana”! Of course then it might get confused with all the other similar such blogs like Gobblers Knob, or Twangville, or all the other interchangeable Americana/Red Dirt/Texas Regional loving blogs. You’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all….
Hmm, I wonder why it is a blog titled “Texas Music Matters” just doesn’t matter to me at all…
HAPPY NEW YEAR! (Well except for all you Obamavoters anyway…) (lol)

Well Americana is basically Alt Country but not all Texas Country is alt country. I don’t get the hatred for Obama voters maybe you should post on politco or something rather than on a music blog.

@Rick: Being the ‘Obamavoter’ that I am, I didn’t expect you to like my list. But, that’s okay. I enjoy your Tidbits and will still read your comments. Glad you liked the collective list though. Keep coming back to read Razor and Occasional Hope’s posts!

Interchangeable, Rick? Coming from a guy that seems to provide the same comment over and over, your characterization of certain blogs is laughable and barely worth the time I have spent typing this comment…Dont you have a tea-party to go or something?

I double the notion that Zane Williams’ album “The Right Place” is worth checking out.
