Gilbert helped answer my question of what fellow, experienced press people would think of the situation. I suspect most experienced journalists, especially entertainment journalists, have done similar things, but just haven’t had someone publicly confront them as a result. When I think about it more, I’m inclined to lean toward what Barry M said about all of this on a previous thread and it seems that Gilbert does as well, as he points to Rolling Stone more than Cooper.

As Chris Rock once said, giving advice to our nation’s youth in his parody of “Always Wear Sunscreen”: “Take off that silly-ass hat.”

According to wikipedia, several people recorded parodies to the ‘Alway Wear Sunscreen’ track – I didn’t know that.

I do know Chris Rock’s parody was actually called ‘No Sex (in the Champagne Room)’. That song and video were huge when I was in high school.

Toby Keith could’ve been a lot more ‘harsh’ to Peter Cooper than that.

I am sorry this post is late. I watched the Toby Keith video and I read all the stuff about what happened. I agree that Peter Cooper should have checked with all three parties before printing his story, maybe even called Norah Jones- since she was there. But Keith comes off a bully and a boy. That hat – well let’s just say I can’t see Willie, Waylon, or Kris wearing that hat. Being an outlaw doesn’t stop you from being a gentleman. Especially when on camera, where young boys and men, who like your music, may see you acting like a child, cussing like a sailor, and wearing an image that is so made up that it makes anything you say sound false and hollow.
