Comments on: MySpace Music Premiers Dierks Bentley’s ‘Feel That Fire’

If anyone is interested, it seems Bentley’s new album (along with a bonus track that is quite good) has also been added to Rhapsody a couple days early.

I dont think Dierks’ new album is great, but I also dont think it’s bad. It’s a solid, mainstream country album that shows some really good songwriting (I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes, Better Believer) and some very generic songs that were included for no other reason than they make for decent live songs (Sideways, Here She Comes).

I dont think Dierks is ever gonna live up to the creative hype or the greatness of his first two albums (Dont Leave Me In Love, his debut, self-titled album), but I also think he is a very good mainstream Country artist. By that I mean, is he ever gonna be mistaken for Jamey Johnson or Chris Knight? Nope, but compared to the Chesney’s and Adkins of the mainstream country world he is pretty damn good.

I’m feeling a bit lukewarm with DB’s upcoming project. I always loved his slow/melodic songs, but it seems like this one’s full of up-tempo, have fun while I got the music going type. Not that there’s anything wrong with it, but it seems that he’s missing his mark a bit… :( BUT…it’s just a first listen, when the album comes out Tues, I’ll bear myself an open/fresh mind.

Gloriana is a band that is backed by Matt Serletic, the producer/manager of Matchbox 20. I think he’s got more than enough credibility to get their band the 15-20 minute open slot on her tour.

Gloriana, the latest “Little Big Town” clone group, will be the opening act at all of Taylor Swift’s headlining shows she has booked thus far this year! Talk about a coup for a new group trying to get established, well at least with screamin’ tweeny’s that is. I would surmise Taylor has a “crush” on one of the “cute boys” in the band and wants to spend her time on the road with her new “Romeo”. Can a “prom date” be far behind? Well, it worked for Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough….

I’ve been hugely disappointed in dang near everything Dierks has done since “Don’t Leave Me In Love”. He started on top of a true country mountain and fell off into a commercial chasm to garner big success when he signed with a major label. Can’t say I blame him though. Also, being married may have taken some of the edge off….

Actually, the MySpace player will play fine without JavaScript, but you need to have the Flash plugin installed. You can get it over on the Adobe site. I don't know why you'd be having problems if you can watch YouTube videos, though.

Drew, I believe you have to have Java scripting enabled and some “internet security/firewall” programs may disable it. I use the Firefox web browser and have no problems when my Java script options are enabled. If you don’t already use Firefox its worth the free download as its less prone to security issues than Internet Explorer.
