Mundo Earwood, Where Are You?
Alright, we need all of our readers to help us out on this one. I was out and about this past weekend when someone asked me about a song called You’re In Love With The Wrong Man by Mundo Earwood. She had an 8-track tape way back in the 70’s with this song on it and was wondering where she could find it. I, thinking I could find anything on the internet, hopped online and commenced searching. After more than an hour of searching on iTunes, Rhapsody, eBay, Google, Yahoo, and MSN and trying every keyword combination possible, I have come up empty handed. What I did find out was that he was from the Houston, TX area and made a few big splashes on the national scene, the song in question is one of them. I also came across a few covers of the song, but nothing by Mundo Earwood himself. Perhaps the greatest treasure of my search was a mp3 of Behind Blue Eyes and it makes me want to hear some of his other stuff. So, if anyone has any information about Mundo Earwood, I’d be much obliged if you could send it my way, or if you happen to have or find this song in a digital format (mp3, CD, etc.) and send it to me, in return, I’ll send a new album your way. Alrighty, it’s time to see how resourceful our readers can be. On a side note, isn’t Mundo Earwood a great name?

[...] Back in mid-December, I asked our readers to help us find out what happened to Mundo Earwood. I had searched all over the internet and found scant little information. Well, the mystery has been solved. A reader by the name of Bruce wrote in, telling is that he had one of Mundo’s albums. I have yet to hear the album, but I can’t wait. Then today, one of Mundo’s second cousins wrote in and gave us some interesting information about Mundo. Here’s what he had to say: Mundo is my second cousin. Last I heard he was living in the Humble, TX area. His given name is Raymond. Mundo is a slang and is short for the Mexican name Raymundo (Raymond). Immigrants working on the southwest Texas Earwood ranch called him Mundo and the nickname stuck. [...]

I have the original of the album and it’s fantastic. I’ve copied it to .mp3 format. I encouraging a Texas singer to record In love with the wrong man and can’t keep my mind off of her.
I am still looking for the lyrics for the first one.
I also have been trying desparately to find an album by Curtis Potter called Texas Proud. It has several fabulous tracks.

Mundo Earwood certainly is still alive!! I’ve got plans to see him this weekend in Tomball, Texas – woohoo! Back in the late 70’s, I would catch him at different Houston honky-tonks (DanceTown USA, Fool’s Gold, Tin Hall, etc..) He was awesome then, and I imagine he can still strum/sing it out;)) Can’t wait!

I saw your name while on the internet and I just had to drop a few lines to say, HELLO!
It seems like the ‘1980’s’ was ONLY yesterday and I remember when I was your Attorney!
How are you and your family?
Our children are grown and we moved back to Giddings, Texas a few years ago!

Mundo is alive and well. As of last report he was living close to me near me around Humble, Texas
A few years back I was with Kelly Schoppa(amarillo by morning) when Nundo called him. I have also heard of some gigs he played.

I remember back in the late 80’s and early 90’s he used to play at the Armidillo Ball Room in Brazoria Texas (60 miles south of Houston) I was about 18 then, and I remember telling him that my Mom had some 8 track tapes of him, and he got a kick out of that! He turned to one of his band members and told him what I said. I actually liked his music, but some of my friends didn’t. They would call him Mundo Ear Ache. lol

Sometimes it just seems so unfair that country music has changed so much. New Country music can’t, and in my opinion, will never compare to the traditional music that country music should represent. It is ashame that a great artsist like Mundo Earwood could “drop off the face of the earth”, while being replaced by the likes of country music wannabe’s like Big & Rich and Billy Ray Cyruss.

Mundo is doing wonderful, has a voice that is better the ever, he is a grandpa and still likes to pick and grin. It is a shame that the radio stations don’t play his music because it is the true country music. We have a great time playing golf.

I worked with Mundo in the late 70’s to the middle 80’s and picked all over the country together. I was with Mundo back in October in Victoria, Tx. and he was in great voice. It was great to see him and his wife again, just like old times. Miss picking and playing golf together. I hear Mundo on the radio now and then in San Antonio on kkyx am station.
Mundo I sure miss the music.

Mundo Earwood is a Dedicated Country Artist and Crafty Songwriter. Back in 1978 Mundo recorded my song “It’s Magic” (Album & Single).

Mundo appeared at Dancetown USA back in the early 80’s with John Anderson. It was my birthday and my wife and I went. We had a picture of us taken and my wife got Mundo to autograph it. When she asked him if he would get John’s autograph too, he turned to John Anderson and asked him “will you sign these people’s picture?) John told Mundo (in front of an open mike!)”I don’t sign autographs and get that woman off of my stage!” Mundo was WAY classier than John Anderson and he sounded way better too! Behind Blue Eyes has always been one of my favorites!

I was coming home from work one night in the mid 80s and I saw a sign at a little bar in Dickinson Tx, that said Mundo was playing there.
I stopped in and there weren’t 10 people in there, but Mundo put on a great show.
I went over to his table during a break and bought him a beer and we sat there and talked a few minutes.
He was a very nice and genuine person. I have always loved his music and I am so glad I got to meet him.

I saw Mundo with Eddie Raven when I was a kid at the Washington County Fair. I asked him to sign an autograph for me but didn’t have any paper for him to sign. I pulled out my almost empty can of Copenhagen to get him to sign the back of it. Mundo felt that it was almost empty, pulled out his can of Copenhagen and signed his and gave it to me. I still have that autographed can. I also got Eddie Ravens autograph and he was a real jerk.

I have always been Mundo’s BIGGEST fan!!! Grew up with him and went to school with him!! My all time favorite song of his…….”Behind Blue Eyes”!! Would love to have a copy of any of his music!! They still have his records on the jukebox in Garner State Park!! If anyone ever hears of him playing somewhere please please post the location on here!!!!

Yes, the woman above me is correct. I am one of the bassists for the Suthern Comfort band and I have gigged with Mundo recently. He is alive, well, and still writing music. Come out to one of our shows sometime, he’d be glad to see you.
