Sara Evans is one of my favorite singers. I can hardly wait to hear the studio version of “Stronger.” I’ve heard her sing it live, and I think it’s a great song. It’s great to have some new music from Sara. If only country radio would play it.

Sirius/XM’s mainstream country station has been playing the new Sara Evans tune for a couple months now. It’s actually in their weekly “Top 30″ countdown. Perhaps FM radio will give it the same love once the add dates hit.

Thanks for the write up, Brody!
After looking at that Coudal Partners link, I think I better start making plans for my limited edition red vinyl remains.

The great thing is they accept body parts too, that way you don’t even have to die, which seems like a bonus to me. Imagine if this would have been around when Billy Joe Shaver lost his fingers.

That Robison guy might be a dirty hippy but I think he might be right. I’m getting tired of Swift’s overly wordy songs. The one about Tim McGraw makes two different mentions of her clothes in the chorus. Has Post-Beard & Straggly Hair Jamey Johnson ever mentioned his outfit?

Does anyone know if GAC airs in Canada? Last time I went to their website, I was geoblocked.
I haven’t heard anything from Sara Evans in awhile. That should be interesting.

Don Williams & Joey&Rory. Pure musical delight!

Bo: The rock and roll brothers are the RobiNsons. The RobIsons are the country brothers.
All: Fresh air is airing interviews with Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings today.

Ok…Miranda will rule on CMA night it’s sure. She will now pick up Female Vocalist of the year besides definitely winning Album of the year with Revolution. But I do not agree with the Entertainer of the year nominations: Brad, Kenny, and even Zak Brown Band ok..but Lady A haven’t toured yet as their tour and Miranda is just starting. Obviously, the criteria that got Taylor Swift that award is out the tour. As several people thought this was Carrie’s year for the Entertainer at the CMA’s where she has not won. So..I guess the Carrie/Taylor awards are now dead..and on with the new.

Oops! ..that got Taylor that award last year is out the door.

Dana — No GAC up here, much to my dismay. I would absolutely kill for a TV station that airs Country music and related materials, instead of bad sitcom reruns and movies. Sigh. I dislike you, CMT…

Last night I attended “A Conversation With Ray Benson” held at the Grammy Museum in downtown Los Angeles. The museum has been staging and recording these interviews with, and short performances by, Grammy winning artists for the last couple of years. Ray talked at length about his start in music and early career, his musical influences, and the history of Asleep At The Wheel during its entire 40 year run thus far (among other things). When the interview portion was over Ray invited his fiddler Jason Roberts and his bass player up on stage to burn through some of The Wheel’s greatest songs as a hot trio! Ray spent most of the time playing rhythm guitar rather than his usual lead and winged it like the pro he is. I could have listened to those boys play those great old tunes all night long! (lol) All I can say is WOW! Tonight its Ryan Bingham’s turn but I don’t much care about that…
I might have to watch the start of “Country’s Night To Rock” since Sarah Buxton is involved. That three minutes should be enough though.
Joey+Rory opening for Don Williams is a great pairing! I’ll have to see if they are heading out west.

I’ve never watched ‘Country’s Night to Rock’ and I will not be watching it tonight. Can someone who has seen or will see it tell me if they mention during the broadcast that it was taped during the summer at CMA Fest? The concept of the broadcast seems a little bizarre to me.

Jim,
My brother called and asked me if I was “at” the CMA Fest tonight. Apparently they make it seem like a live event (hosted by Tim McGraw).

Seems like if a guy wanted to know what was going on on a TV show, he’d turn his freaking TV on and have a look.
PS. If one were to bestir one’s self enough to go to ABC’s website and poke around for a few seconds, one would find the show’s home page which describes it as “highlights of the four day event.”
September 1, 2010 at 10:28 pm
Thanks, Pierce! I figured as much. From the promo spots, it seemed like they were trying to make it look like a live event.
September 2, 2010 at 12:42 am
Oh, great. I can see the American Twang write-up now – a nice rant about deceptive promotion based on a single third-hand account.

I was channel surfing by ABC and did catch the live version of “Bad Angel” with Dierks, Miranda, and Jamey sharing the stage. I actually liked this live version better than the album cut and Miranda was really into it! The release date for “Up On The Ridge” was June 8th, so the adudience members had never heard the song before and none of them were able to sing along, which must have been frustrating! (lol)

I watched the CMA music festival last night. I was a little bored by it. I was more interested in my iPhone during the whole show except when Miranda, Blake Shelton, and Martina McBride sang. I was impressed with Carrie Underwood’s performance. It almost makes me want to see her in concert. I’m a little disappointed with the song choices though, which was why I wasn’t that interested in the program. I cut out early though because I wake up early for work so I can’t say much about the ending or Taylor Swift’s performance.
September 2, 2010 at 3:37 pm
Taylor swift was probably ridiculously bad.
September 3, 2010 at 7:18 am
Shannon, you are 100% correct – it was actually painful to listen to her sing.

Here’s a new twist to the non nominations:

I thought Don Williams was no longer with us.
Maybe I mixed him up with Vern Gosdin.
September 6, 2010 at 1:26 pm
I was surprised to see neither Carrie Underwood or Taylor Swift get nominated for Entertainer of the Year. Can’t say it wasn’t a pleasant surprise though! Good to see Miranda getting the recognition she deserves.

Hey guys! Miranda Lambert has a new DVD that hits stores in early October its called “Live by Candlelight” and features rare acoustic performances from her album “Revolution” you can preorder the album at http://amzn.to/93tSBY

@ Trish – hey, I am not a fan but I think her live performance of “Mine” was pretty decent
