Miranda Lambert & Blake Shelton To Co-Headline Tour This Fall
- After the success of a few experimental combined shows throughout the summer, Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton made the decision to co-headline a tour this fall.
- The new album from Amber Digby, Passion, Pride, & What Might Have Been, is available for sale on her label’s website and you can listen to full-length versions of six of the twelve songs on her MySpace, including a cover of “She Didn’t Color Daddy” (a song previously performed by both Wynn Stewart and Tammy Wynette). Good stuff.
- Brad Paisley topped the Billboard country airplay chart with “Waitin’ On a Woman,” making that his eight consecutive, non-seasonal chart-topper–a first in the 18-year history of Nielsen BDS-monitored airplay.
- Beverly Keel notes that the Tennessee Titans victory on Sunday pushed the home teams’ record to a impressive 26-4 when Martina McBride sings the National Anthem, an accomplishment her husband John is particularly proud of.
- Rounder Records announced that they’ll release an Alison Krauss DVD titled A Hundred Miles or More: Live From The Tracking Room on Nov. 11. The DVD will feature Krauss in the studio performing songs from last year’s album, A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection.
- Canadian country group Doc Walker cleaned up at the Canadian Country Music Awards last night with five of the coveted awards (Fan’s Choice, Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Video of the Year and Group of the Year), while Jessie Farrell walked away with Female Artist of the Year and Rising Star.
- Beginning Sept. 26, Patty Loveless will return to touring and may start looking for new songs–songs with impact and hurt like the old ones found on Sleepless Nights.
“I believe those songs are out there, and the challenge is to find them,” Loveless said. “They’re within writers like Matraca Berg, who wrote ‘On Your Way Home’ and ‘My Heart Will Never Break This Way Again.’ And I think if you believe in a song and what it says, even if it’s sad, you shouldn’t be afraid to do it. There’s more to life than romantic songs.”
- Aside from towering over the members of .38 Special, Trace Adkins could easily fit in with the band. The CMT Blog has a video of their performance of “Wild Eyed Southern Boys” from an upcoming episode of CMT Crossroads.

Dale Watson Alert! Don’t forget that Dale will be performing on the Tuesday Night Opry TONIGHT at 7:15 PM CST (Nashville Time). Tuesday Opry’s give the performers a whole 15 minutes so they can do at least three songs in their segments. Listen in live on WSM online:
Opry Schedule: http://www.opry.com/TicketsAndInformation/ThisWeek.aspx

Blake & Miranda will be spending enough time together on the joint tour that it should put their relationship to the test. Will Miranda ultimately wind up as Blake’s “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”? Hmmm…..
Thanks for the Amber Digby plug. Funny, I never seem to see her name in the Top 10 on the Texas music chart…(or Kimberly Murray, or Brennen Leigh, or Leslie and Her Juke Jointers, etc…)
The Canadian Country Music Awards shows used to be focused purely on Canadian artists and their music and this year they invited Yankee artists like Dierks Bentley to try to improve ratings. It sadly sounds like the CCM awards show is going Hollywood, or is that Nashywood(?), which is a pity….

That’s Emperor Dale Watson to you.

Rick, be careful. Dale Watson is popular in Texas, so it likely means he isnt really that great ;-)

Rick,
The CCMA awards (not to be confused with CCM’s “Dove Awards”) have always featured a couple of Nashville’s artists. Nashville country gets played on Canadian radio as much/more as Canadian artists do. Given their success, I am wondering when Doc Walker will be trying to cross-over to Nashville. Their albums have been consistently good (even if a bit more pop/rock than country) and the band has shown a willingness to do interesting covers, like choosing to record Genesis’ “That’s All” and then release it as a single.
Jessie Farrell has a nice album as well.

Bad idea Miranda… never ever work with your partner.
Can’t wait for that Patty Loveless tour. Still bummed I can’t make one of Kasey Chamber’s 3 US shows. Yes, only 3 :(

Marc,
It’s worked well for the McGraw’s, why won’t it work for Blake and Miranda?

Really? So why is Faith cussing out women in the crowd? ;)

I dont even want to think about how ballistic Miranda will get if faced with a similar incident. It will NOT be pretty!

Just saw this on another blog. It seems political in nature but it’s really just a funny country joke:
“And did you notice that John Rich and Cowboy Troy were invited to play, but not their partner Big Kenny Alphin? Clearly some quick-thinking RNC planner thought it would be a little bit on the nose if the headlining music act at the nation’s largest gathering of Republicans was a band called Big and Rich.”
:)

Marc, According to Kasey’s website her US dates are as follows:
Sept 10, Hotel Cafe, LA
Sept 12, McCabe’s Santa Monica
Sept 13, Cactus Cafe, Austin (Sold Out)
Sept 16, The Highline Ballroom, New York
Sept 17, Birchmere, Washington DC
Sept 18, Park West, Chicago
Sept 19, Amoeba Records, Hollywood (Free)
Three appearances here in the Los Angeles area eh? Kasey must like us! (lol) I’ll be seeing her at McCabe’s and that should be enough……
Matt, the last time I watched the CCM awards on GAC a couple of years ago there was thankfully a total lack of American country artists on the playbill. It was just refreshing to hear all Canadian artists, and especially the ones that aren’t well known here like Corb Lund…..
Re: Emperor Dale Watson, great comments guys. I should have known better than to pick on a Texas artist like Aaron Watson even though he is not even worthy to tie Dale’s bootlaces….. (lol)

His boots don’t have laces to begin with.

Bomshel wears boots with laces, not Emperor Watson.

Rick: But honestly, would you let the boy out without a leash if you were Miranda?
September 9, 2008 at 9:00 pm Permalink
Rick, she’s expanded! still nothing close. It was just DC, Chicago and one LA show.
September 9, 2008 at 11:33 pm Permalink
Thanks for the heads up Rick on Kasey Chambers. Unfortunately, her show at McCabe’s is already sold out. Have fun!
Since I was in the concert mood, I did purchase tickets to see Miranda and Blake. A weekend in Vegas never hurt anyone.

Thanks for the Patsy Cline tip. I picked up the album for the 4 or 5 songs not already in my collection. At $2, why not?
