Ronnie Milsap and Merle Haggard are musical geniuses (genii?) of the highest order, and Conway Twitty and George Strait are quite gifted in interpreting a song with tremendous passion. Of course, Conway's final hits all had this young guy from Oklahoma singing these beautiful soaring tenor harmonies, which complemented Conway's growl perfectly. Anyone know who it was? He must have the most talent, then, cause its surely not because of publicity, or fancy rock and roll type shows with bashing guitars. From the few interviews I've seen of him in his 25 year career, he seems like a very soft spoken, well mannered, conservatively dressed cowboy gentleman. Maybe that's the secret to his success.
