Lorrie Morgan Celebrates 25th Anniversary with Opry

Wow, that’s quite a list of releases! Somehow it just seems strange that Daryle Singletary would have an album titled “Rockin’ In The Country”(?). At least Trailer Choir got to release a six song download only EP, which is a whole lot better than nothing!

I would advise Kellie Pickler not to wear that “rack” anywhere near Blake Shelton’s property in Oklahoma or she might wind up on his trophy wall!

Trailer’s “Best Days of Your Life” graph is a hoot. Highlight is “Making Kellie Pickler Cry”. (lol)

Good week for music… though albums from John Anderson, Perfect Stranger, Daryle Singletary, and Tracy Lawrence makes it seem like some sort of flashback list.

Can’t wait to grab Todd Snider’s CD. I’ll probably pick up Anderson’s as well.

My dad and I remarked that Paisley’s “Water” sounds exactly like “Ticks”, only less dirty and with lots of fiddle. Still a good song though, just very unoriginal sounding.

Gary Allan’s “Today” sounded good. But in the Youtube video…why can’t people shut up talking while others are trying to listen? I know because they are probably drunk..but it still bothers me.

I’d say the best of the new releases is Owen Temple’s album, although I haven’t given The Hoyle Brothers a listen yet. The John Anderson release turned out to be a pretty lackluster collection of songs.

I’ll admit I didn’t listen closely to the Todd Snider release, but it sounds like he’s become too comfortable retreading familiar territory and too content with attempting to be clever. The song Leeann pointed out, “Don’t Tempt Me,” at least stands out sonically. It’s not that I think the album is terrible or even bad, it’s just not very exciting.

Lorrie Morgan sounded really good tonight at the Opry. Congrats to her major honor. She really started when she was 13. Take that Taylor! Ricky Skaggs was pure gold. Trace was hilarious inbetween his quite varied selections. Charlie Daniels still amazes and rouses up a crowd with his rocking booming voice and yes quick fiddle. How old is he anyhow? Little Big Town had amazes harmonies as usual but..I don’t know..still is missing something. Connie Smith …’nuff said. Carrie was good as well. It seems she less technically pure perfect when she does the Opry. She loosens up and just has fun which is nice to see.

Is everyone doing that idea: digitally releasing new song a week for an upcoming album?

Guess Brad Paisley wants to jump on the bandwagon with the likes of Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, and Rascal Flatts (who all did the same things on their last albums)

“On “Last Name” (again not my favorite song), she went up higher then normal near the ending “Nammmmme”. I thought for sure some glass was going to start breaking!”

- That’s a good thing?

It is, but it’s still a screamfest. Carrie screaming even louder than usual, to the point where glass shatters, cannot possibly be a good thing.

Carrie’s a great talent, her voice is phenomenal, and a lot of people enjoy her performances. She deserves all her successes.

Erik, it wasn’t a scream fest. I was thinking technically. She has got extremely good vocal talent and lung power to get up so high. It amazed me for I listen to Opera too. It added to the song- believe me and she got a standing ovation. When I say I don’t like the song, I mean lyrically. It’s blah. But the music is not bad especially when you have someone who can add so much to it. I am hoping that with her 3rd album she comes out with good written songs to match her vocal talent.
