completely agreed about jewel. her vocal style irritates the living crap out of me. it sounds so calculated. i can just hear her brain telling her voice what to do: put a little tear in your voice here, make this note waver a bit, use the little girl voice here. it just grates. she also has the same problem most singers have nowadays: why sing 2 notes when you can sing 35 notes in the same bar?

The problem with Chris Young is that he put out a forgettable first album that was full of weak filler songs. That is no way to kick off a long career. I bought it when it first came out, listened through a couple times and then lost track of it.

Jewel was on last night’s Tuesday Night Opry and I found her singing unlistenable! She feels compelled to oversing everything in all sorts of annoying ways. If I was a current contestant on NS, I would ignore any advice Jewel gives about vocal technique..

Chris Young was definitely among the best talent on Nashville Star. I’m really excited to hear “Voices”, and I hope he finally gets his shot at stardom with it.
