Dang, I missed the live blog and the show this week. Hope to catch it when it re-airs on CMT. My cable and internet have been out since Saturday morning. So bummed to have missed the chat but I read all the comments. Sounds like I might actually like this week :)

I agree with Courtney in that I just watch and think that even in my small circle of the world, I can find better artists than these supposedly chosen out of what? Thousands? NS is an embarrassment to country music, sadly.

While I tend to agree with John Rich on the content of his “judging,” he is such a pompous ass. His harsh critiques are neither witty nor challenging. Sure, Coffey is awful, but it isn’t as though he just became so and before sounded country. So to viciously go after him and some of the others, most especially on the night their families are there, saying how they don’t “belong” on NS due to not being “country enough”, when it’s been pretty obvious that no one outside of Gabe really does belong on NS as far as genre is concerned, just comes across as pompous grandstanding. Considering the source, though, I shouldn’t be surprised. Point being the show cast all these people and put them in the top ten. If anyone deserves Rich’s ire, it’s the producers and/or talent agencies cast this mess.

Oh, and Matt C, I don’t care for most of Carrie Underwood’s music, especially that “So Small” song that is sleep-inducing, but she wasn’t off pitch in that commercial with the horse and of all the things to criticize her about, her technical vocal abilities isn’t one.

Matt B.: I don’t know that I agree with your assessment of Alyson’s career based on her fans spelling. From the websites I have seen Rascall Flats’ fans helped but “prolly” and “h8ters” on the map and it hasn’t hurt them.

This season’s a train wreck that my friend and I can’t stop watching! Every week we vow to give up, yet we can’t. It’s sooo bad it’s like some text book case study in how not to retool a perfectly good cable show as a major network series. Where did they find these amateurs? In Nashville alone there must be countless struggling young singers with far more talent. Not one of these amateurs has a voice that should be anywhere near primetime television. And why is John Rich being such an a**hole now, like he had no hand in picking these singers? We’re sitting here saying out loud.. umm John if you didn’t think they were country singers then why are they on the show to begin with?

I’m not bummed about missing amateur hour this week, but I’m bummed about missing out on the live blog, which is infinitely more entertaining. Maybe next week.

Incidentally, Vote For The Worst isn’t endorsing anyone on this show officially (it’s Canadian Idol season), but if they did, it would have been Tommy Stanley.

i watched the last 10 minutes of the show tonight. i could’ve cried thinking “this is what they picked? the whole country,this is what they picked? what did they throw out every singer with any talent? i could pick people 10 times better in my town!” i think they really screwed up with who they picked.

seeing billy ray’s family at the end just gave me this thought of 2 – 4 years and miley will be in and out of rehabs for drugs & alcohol, having car accidents weekly. give her 10 years, and she’ll be shaving her head.

One of the duo girls was horrible the other one was good. I think Jeffrey said it best, “I don’t know what’s going on but you both need to forget it and work on this 100%” I think the girls are not the best of friends right now and it’s showing up in their singing.

laura and sophie are HORRIBLE!!they shouldnt even be on the show.alyson didnt do her best but she still did way better than laura and sophie..they sound like crap when they sing together..GOOD LUCK ALYSON YOU’LL DO GREAT IN THE FUTURE..KEEP YOUR HEAD HIGH
