LeAnn Rimes Stars In New Lifetime Movie

Those EYB boys are gonna milk that single for all its worth, I guess. In Texas, we’ve been hearing “When it Rains” for years now, not to mention the multiple videos that have been filmed for it over the years….

Not sure I would call that much of a “duet”. Randy Travis got maybe two lines to himself, and then Carrie overlapped him on everything else –

You know, I am so tired of people saying Carrie Underwood doesn’t express emotion. At the recent CMA awards, on the AI finale, and I believe her first ACM performance, she was so emotional her voice cracked and could barely sing by the end of her performances. I think some of you have developed a bad habit of trashing Carrie on this point, even when it is not true. Some of her earlier performances were wooden. No more.

Just because she is showing emotion while singing (like crying) doesn’t mean at all that she is emotionally connected to the song, and is singing the lyrics with some meaning. I don’t believe for one minute that because she was choked up while singing ‘inside your heaven’ on the AI finale that she really meant those words. Being expressive and crying because you are happy to be there/to have won are two totally different things.

You know, as listeners we tend to be kind of transparent to ourselves, so to speak – but the communication of emotion in art, including music, definitely requires both sides, artist and audience member, to be on the same page. That’s why two people can hear the same performance and differ on whether it communicated “convincing” emotion.

I think some Carrie fans have developed a habit of being over-zealous in their praise, and in the processes have also developed a habit of not recognizing and respecting a difference of opinion/taste. Dissenting isn’t trashing. Opinions can be neither be right nor wrong, that’s why they are opinions.

I hope Josh’s new cd does real well and will have alot of gems on it, can never get enough og his voice.

I think Darius has made a great transition to country music, and I respect how he is not releasing a new song every two months (overload) like his male counterparts.

I have only one thing to mention about Carrie and I’ll let Brad Paisley say it “Brad Paisley performed his new country hit “Then”. He told Ryan, Carrie Underwood has been the greatest addition to country music in the past ten years.”

Anna: there are those that will argue that Carrie doesn’t need to remix her songs because they are already pop enough. Second, only time will tell if Carrie is talented enough to have longevity in music. The only comparisons that should be between Carrie’s career and Leann’s should be from a comparable standpoint of one to the other. Its not fair to compare Leann’s 10 plus year career to the 3 year career of Carrie’s. Many people said Gretchen Wilson would be a country hit maker for years to come(which she isn’t).

But, maybe if Brad Paisley said it, it must be true.

I am so tired of the Carrie Underwood bashing here. Seriously, some of you sound like 90 year old ninnies who are stuck with your head in the sand, too stubborn to admit the truth. The truth is, that Carrie is an amazing singer..and she did an incredible job on I Told You So. You just don’t like Carrie for whatever reason, so you make up excuses why her performance was lacking…when it was flawless.

It is also unfair to blame Carrie for Randy’s lack of lines in the song. Perhaps Randy wanted it that way, so as not to steal the thunder from Carrie. It is Carrie’s single this time around, not Randy’s, even though it is his song that he wrote. I think he is a big boy and he agreed to the arrangment well in advance.

Carrie showed a ton of emotion in her performance of the song. The only reason some of you are bashing her performance, is because you don’t like Carrie. She has received universal praise all over the country, and even in the UK, for that performance. It was amazing.
