Vassar’s record got pushed back? Maybe its the shocking video for Bobbi with an I that is sure to tank that got the record pushed. The song makes Neil McCoy’s “billy’s got his beer goggles on” look like Blowin in the Wind.
I like Vassar and loved Sixpack Summer, but this one really misses the mark. he’s also now a guy pushing 50 doing these ridiculous songs, trying to stay viable on radio.
A killer ballad would likely have been a better bet.

What was the point of releasing a video for “Solitary Thinkin’” now? Its already done on the charts… she should’ve moved on to a third single and made a video for the next one instead… since like the song, it was kinda boring n didn’t really do anything

Videos have traditionally been tied to radio success but video success is much different.

Originally scheduled for an August 25 release, Phil Vassar’s next release was pushed back to November.

I hope Sarah Buxton’s reception at the Phoenix Keith Urban concert does indeed act as a bit of a springboard for her career. Hopefully Keith will invite Sarah to open his shows on a regular basis to give her some real momentum and support her current radio single. Back a couple of years ago Keith had Katrina Elam opening his concerts and look at all the good that did for her Top 40 country career…

Thanks for the Megan Mullins video link. I really don’t know if these “home videos” will help her current radio single gain airplay, but us long time fans appreciate it anyway.

Rick, I agree with you about Megan Mullins. We hosted her at an event in Sacramento in May and she was great. She has a song called All American Family Band (it’s on her MySpace page) that does a great job of telling her childhood music experience in song.

Quotes of the day come form the staffers at CMT after viewing the new Colbie Caillat video for “Fallin’ For You”. The goal is to guess which if any of these comments can be taken literally:

“Panelists’ comments: “Wouldn’t it be nice if Colbie was really pretty?” “And if she could really sing?” “She is just so good. I just wish she were a little bit country.””

I love that last comment! Regarding “a little bit country” as compared to who, Taylor Swift maybe? I think Colbie should pull a reverse Taylor Swift move and release countrified re-mixes of all of her new singles! Add in a little steel guitar, banjo, and mandolin and there you go, and unlike Taylor, Colbie is not prone to screeching! And since Colbie is past writing teeny-bopper fantasy love songs, she will appeal to Top 40 country listeners over the age of 15! Go Colbie! (lol)

I have every one of Shelby’s albums, and each one is unique, and not to mention great. Her voice isn’t what it used to be though (that smoking of hers has taken its toll on it), but her last album was #1 on my list of favorite albums of 2008, because she simply knows how to use her voice better than most anyone.
