Vassar’s record got pushed back? Maybe its the shocking video for Bobbi with an I that is sure to tank that got the record pushed. The song makes Neil McCoy’s “billy’s got his beer goggles on” look like Blowin in the Wind.
I like Vassar and loved Sixpack Summer, but this one really misses the mark. he’s also now a guy pushing 50 doing these ridiculous songs, trying to stay viable on radio.
A killer ballad would likely have been a better bet.

Isn’t LeAnn Rimes’ husband gay? How come they don’t say that’s the reason they are splitting up?

^ If LeAnn’s husband is gay, why’d she marry him then?

What was the point of releasing a video for “Solitary Thinkin’” now? Its already done on the charts… she should’ve moved on to a third single and made a video for the next one instead… since like the song, it was kinda boring n didn’t really do anything

Gus: I think the issue is more one of her being straight.

Nicholas,
Videos have traditionally been tied to radio success but video success is much different.

I like the “Solitary Thinkin’ ” video, but I don’t think it will bring it back on the charts.

She duets with Jamey Johnson and rocks sick Christian Louboutin shoes in her video…Lee Ann Womack is a girl after my own heart.

I hope Sarah Buxton’s reception at the Phoenix Keith Urban concert does indeed act as a bit of a springboard for her career. Hopefully Keith will invite Sarah to open his shows on a regular basis to give her some real momentum and support her current radio single. Back a couple of years ago Keith had Katrina Elam opening his concerts and look at all the good that did for her Top 40 country career…
Thanks for the Megan Mullins video link. I really don’t know if these “home videos” will help her current radio single gain airplay, but us long time fans appreciate it anyway.
Nice to see Wanda Jackson get a shout out here at The 9513. Nice to see the rockabilly firecracker is still a poppin’! (lol)

And hangs out on printers alley. She’s a brave soul, Karlie! I loved the video. I hadnt really given the song that much attention, but I really like the song.

Rick, I agree with you about Megan Mullins. We hosted her at an event in Sacramento in May and she was great. She has a song called All American Family Band (it’s on her MySpace page) that does a great job of telling her childhood music experience in song.

Ken, I actually purchased a CD of Megan and her brother Marcus when they were kids titled something like “The Little Fiddlers”. The novelty factor wore off quickly and I passed it onto Megan’s friend Catherine Britt (after a Crystal Palace gig in Bakersfield) before she headed back to Australia. Both Megan and Marcus have come a long way since then! (lol) Since the Broken Bow label recently moved Megan to a new imprint, hopefully they will support a few more radio singles from Megan if “Long Past Gone” doesn’t gain any traction.

Rick’s Random Tidbits: Speaking of Sarah Buxton, she will be featured during the first segment of tomorrow night’s Tuesday Night Opry. I expect to hear a lot of La,La,La’s! (lol) Other guests worth noting will include the Eli Young Band, Charlie Daniels Band, and Trace Adkins.

Quotes of the day come form the staffers at CMT after viewing the new Colbie Caillat video for “Fallin’ For You”. The goal is to guess which if any of these comments can be taken literally:
“Panelists’ comments: “Wouldn’t it be nice if Colbie was really pretty?” “And if she could really sing?” “She is just so good. I just wish she were a little bit country.””
I love that last comment! Regarding “a little bit country” as compared to who, Taylor Swift maybe? I think Colbie should pull a reverse Taylor Swift move and release countrified re-mixes of all of her new singles! Add in a little steel guitar, banjo, and mandolin and there you go, and unlike Taylor, Colbie is not prone to screeching! And since Colbie is past writing teeny-bopper fantasy love songs, she will appeal to Top 40 country listeners over the age of 15! Go Colbie! (lol)

Shelby Lynne is one of my all-time female vocalists. Her material has been all over the map and I thought “Identity Crisis” was an appropriate CD title. But that chick could sing the phone book.
Wanda Jackson still has it. I’ve opened for her for 4 years at her birthday party at the Continental Club in Houston. Great stage presence and connection with the fans. And while her voice has aged, she’s still got it!
Rick – I like the term “countrified”. That’s what you do – take an 80s rock song and countrify it with a banjo or mandolin and sing with a country accent. Voila! Countrified.

I have every one of Shelby’s albums, and each one is unique, and not to mention great. Her voice isn’t what it used to be though (that smoking of hers has taken its toll on it), but her last album was #1 on my list of favorite albums of 2008, because she simply knows how to use her voice better than most anyone.

What happened to the Lee Ann Womack video??
July 28, 2009 at 4:05 pm Permalink
Rick: Katrina Elam left that k.u. tour of her accord for personal reasons; that probably had something to do with it…
