As a 30 year veteran of the music business, the very first time I saw a Sugarland video, I knew immediately that Kristin would soon be gone. She was somewhat older and - ahem- “not deferential to men” like the other members needed her to be. Further, while no one was talking about it, she had a large solo following that knew well she was an out lesbian. But all of a sudden she developed a “solo career” fetish,and I knew that a huge check was in her mailbox, paying her to go away. I have to say that I love Kristin’s talent far more than anything Sugarland has done.

I have no doubt that Kristin was too independent to sell the audio Sweet N’ Low that Nashville craves. She doesn’t look “hot” enough or play the dumb redneck game well enough to be believed by the sheep that buy Music Row’s cookie cutter drivel. I don’t care what her sexuality is, she is far better as a solo artist than a member of ” the pre-fab three”.

Having said that, I don’t buy her explanation as wanting to bring a band from indy to invincible and then stop and start over. I’ve never in my life heard a musician express such a sentiment. Who wants to do all that work and then forego the champagne-and-truffles ? That makes no sense. My guess is that she had to play ball in the media to keep that generous “severance package” from Sugarland.

I know kristen hall sort of. I think the band had a falling out. A power struggle. Kristen is a very talented song writer on a very limited scale. All of her music sounds the same. After a while you can play her music as light noise because it blends. She is very nice but also has the meanest temper this side of the Missippi. She is also very very narcisistic.

Ok, I saw Kristen back when she was opening for Indigo Girls, back in the early 90’s. I got to meet her and have her sign her solo album(s). She was an AWESOME songwriter back then, and still is. And if you listen to some of the songs from her early solo stuff, she was struggling with being on the road THEN. Kristen’s an awesome human being. She deserves our respect for taking care of herself in the face of what must have been a difficult choice.

And for you haters who only see a body when you look at a woman, get a life.

Anyone spitting venom at Kristen Hall or Sugarland probably are just jealous of their success or hate that a band like this got popular in the first place.

Look you have no idea who or what you are talking about. First of all your weight has nothing to do with what kind of person or performer you are. Talent is the key here. I know Hall personally and she is a kind and wonderful human being, and regardless of size she started the band and wrote on most of the music. Take a look at the album jacket. You must be so miserable within your own life that you have nothing better to do but try to find the bad in others? Get a grip and find your talent, maybe this will lead you to fing the good in all….
