Kenny Rogers Abandons Dream Home And Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert Disagree
- Kenny Rogers has upset some residents in Sandy Springs, GA after abandoning the construction of his dream home. Neighbors to the land, where granite was blasted away and tree were cleared, feel like Rogers has ruined the property. He cited the house as being too big for his wife and twin sons if he were to pass away as his reason for scrapping the plans.
- Josh Turner knows he’s been given a lot more creative freedom than a lot of newer artists when it comes to his albums.
“Even on the first record (Long Black Train) I was given creative control that a lot of new artists don’t get,” he says. “I got to know the people at my label and tried to express to them that I really knew where I wanted to go with my career and that I wasn’t there to figure out who I was.”
It’s refreshing to see an artists who knows exactly what he wants to do and does it without bending to the executives who want to sell records. I personally like the direction Josh Turner is going in, it’s not the typical cookie-cutter country.
- Miranda Lambert, who shot to stardom after her stint on Nashville Star, and Blake Shelton are one of the newest country couples. Blake Shelton says that Lambert hates his taste in music and he thinks her taste is boring. He also says that there are very few songs of his own that Lambert enjoys.
- Eddie Montgomery, from the duo Montgomery Gentry, talks about his trademark style of clothes that he has become know for.
“When I first signed a recording contract, the studio put a stylist with me,” Eddie tells Larry Vaught of the Advocate-Messenger in Danville, Ky. “They brought all these clothes in, and I said, ‘I don’t dress in all that stuff.’ They asked me what kind of jeans I wore and I said, ‘Wrangler. I want them this way.’” So Eddie set about creating his own look. A Civil War buff, he liked the long style worn then and got a seamstress in Missouri to copy a coat for him from a photo in a book.
- Brady mentioned the newest album from Tim McGraw, due out on March 27, in a previous entry, but I wanted to revisit the album and take a look at a few of the songs that sound interesting based off of the titles. Kristofferson – how much cooler can a song title get than that, hopefully the song will live up to the potential of it’s name. Some other songs that have potential based off their title alone are: Whiskey and You, Nothin’ to Die For, Between the River and Me, and Shotgun Rider (a duet with Faith Hill). Some of the other songs, such as Let It Go and I Need You (another duet with Faith Hill), sound like they’ll be lazy songs – rehashes of songs past. It’s going to be interesting to see how this album turns out.
