Kenny Chesney Gives Fans Something Special; CMA Names New CEO; Billy Ray Cyrus Goes Rock
- Being the gracious guy that he is, Kenny Chesney wanted to give something extra to the fans with his upcoming release, Hemingway’s Whiskey. That something extra will take the form of two bonus tracks and a 30-minute DVD that includes video of an in-depth conversation with Chesney about each of the songs on a Deluxe Edition of his new album.

- The Country Music Hall of Fame’s Michael McCall covered Buddy Miller‘s artist-in-residence concert on Tuesday night and posted a couple of videos, including performances of “Does My Ring Burn Your Finger” from Lee Ann Womack and “Wide River to Cross” with Patty Griffin and the McCrary Sisters.
- Charlie Louvin on the surgery he underwent back in July:

In a way, the album represents Adkins’s response to the new digital era, when record sales are more a means to an end than the ultimate goal. Few artists can expect to sell millions of records these days, so Adkins said his goal with the new set was to draw fans to his live shows.

I’m surprised that “No One Needs to Know” and “You Win My Love” didn’t make GAC’s Shania countdown (those were awesome), though I’m not at all surprised that “Party for Two” was so high on the list. That just might be my favorite Shania video.

That’s a decent set of Lee Ann Womack songs analyzed at Limewire. I would have left out the Buddy Miller song though and picked another of her early career big radio hits.
The proper response to the question “Who Is The Randy Rogers Band?” should have been “Who outside of Texas really gives a sh*t?”…

I don’t know about leaving off “Does My Ring Burn Your Finger,” which is a mighty fine song, but I would have loved to see “The Fool” on that Lee Ann Womack song list; it’s a dandy, written by (among others) my buddy Charley Stefl.

I’m surprised Adkins would join Toby Keith’s label. They may be friends, but they’re also competitors–They’re both middle-age, tough-guys appealing to the same audience.
Maybe it will work out fine, but I can forsee trouble when Adkins thinks the label is pushing Toby’s music over his.
