Jimmy Buffett Filed a Lawsuit to Get Website Shut Down
Apparently some guy was using Jimmy Buffett’s trademark to sell goods on a website he owned. I couldn’t get the site to work, so maybe it’s already been taken down. This isn’t the first time the site owner, Robert Akard, has had one of his sites shut down. He had another site, parrotsofthecarribbean.com, shutdown by Buffett as well, which is kind of scary because that means this guy has nothing better to do then go around ripping off Jimmy Buffett. According to the AP article, Akard is trying to sell some of the products with a markup as high as fifty-percent, if only we were all so lucky.

[...] Jimmy Buffettt reached a settlement in the lawsuit he had against a website owner. In our previous post we mentioned that this wasn’t the first time the guy had been forced to take down a website for infringing on Buffett’s rights. Akard, the offender, spent some time in jail and promised that he wouldn’t sell Buffet-labeled items in the future. Hopefully the guy learned his lesson this time. [...]
