Jewel Strikes First; Pranks Paisley
- Notorious prankster Brad Paisley was the first to fall victim to not one, but two pranks on this year’s tour at the hand of Jewel. Yeah, it’s a slow news day.
- Robert K. Oermann goes to great efforts and research to portray the Opry members as more than just artists in his new book, Behind the Grand Ole Opry Curtain, and C. Eric Banister says it’s through their stories of romance that Oermann is most able to humanize the people most of us only see on stage.
- CMT Insider producer Laura Douglas captures the chemistry between Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert in an interview for CMT.
What is your relationship like?
Lambert: Honestly, really … I don’t know. We really are what you see here. We do this in our own private time. We just pick on each other all the time. But I think we have one of the strongest relationships that I’ve ever seen. We’ve been through a lot of crap together — a lot of crap — and I think that in the beginning, being apart all the time and going through some really hard times just kind of … I’m glad we got over that hump because we really just get along great. We can make it, being away for weeks at a time. We have arguments on the phone, but five minutes later, we’re saying, “I love you,” “See you in a week,” whatever it is. We really just are best friends.
Shelton: There were times early on there that — I know that she did and I know that I did — we were just ready to give up on it and walk away from it because there’s nothing easy about having a relationship doing what we do. But we just decided that as miserable as we are together, it’s way more miserable when we’re apart.
Lambert: (laughs) Well, that’s a sweet way of putting it. Thank you, honey.

- For episode 10 of Nashville At Nite, Ashlie Kolb interviews cast and crew members from the movie Billy: The Early Years, including John Carter Cash and Josh Turner.
- The Opry Live YouTube Channel added several live performances from the taping of “Into the Circle” that didn’t make it into to the show. James Otto finds his groove on “These Are the Good Ole Days,” Kellie Pickler sparkles in “Red High Heels,” although hers are actually gold, and memory comes out like mammary when Ashton Shepherd soars on “Old Memory.”

Blake’s and Miranda’s relationship reminds me of a ridiculous quote Elizabeth Taylor made years about her on and off romance with Richard Burton. It was something along the lines of “I love him so much that I can’t stand being with him!”. (lol)
I wouldn’t consider SheDaisy as being “underrated” since they had their heyday on Top 40 country radio with multiple Top 10 hits. Now I will say that Top 40 radio has swept them under the rug along with other female artists who were hot just a couple of years ago but got bulldozed off the charts when the Carrie and Taylor steamroller hit.
