Off Topic: Kellie Pickler was recently involved in a wet t-shirt contest! Here’s the video to prove it:

(lol)
I hope Jason Michael Carroll’s song lyrics in his new album are a bit more profound than the album title. (yes, I’m just kidding)
If Jessica Andrews was dead serious about restarting her career, she really should get herself in tip top physical shape. Good looks is such a huge part of “pop culture country radio” these days that not looking your best is a big mistake. Well, that’s my opinion anyway.
Good news from Nashville!
“Always…Patsy Cline, The Musical Returns To The Ryman Auditorium!
Last Thursday (3/5) was the 46th anniversary of the plane crash that killed Patsy Cline, Cowboy Copas and Hawkshaw Hawkins. The date was the backdrop for a Press Conference announcing a special exhibit at the Country Music Hall Of Fame & Museum.
The special exhibit coincides with the 6-week run of Always…Patsy Cline at the Ryman beginning April 15th. Reprising her critically acclaimed role as Patsy Cline is Mandy Barnett. For more info, click here http://www.ryman.com/ .” Go Mandy!

I don’t think that Jamie Lynn Spears as a country artist is the end of the world, because if Jessica’s Simpson’s massive flop has shown us anything, it’s that you can’t rely on your name alone to cross over and be a huge country star.
Carrie Underwood doing Motley Crue, however, is just great for the genre. Hope she sings that the next time she’s on the Opry!

Los Angeles concert alert! Tonight (Tuesday, March 10th) both Corb Lund and Randy Weeks will be performing at The Mint Club at the corner of Pico and Crescent Heights. Admission is $ 10 and each artist will have a 45 minute set. It is being billed as a “CD Release Party” for Randy’s new CD. Looks like its time to set my DVR for tonight’s TV shows…

Rick, having met and talked to her in person, she’s in ‘tip-top physical shape’ alread.
Randy Weeks’ disc is very good.

Er… that should say “already” not “alread.”

What happened to all the activity The 9513 used to get on these daily country music news threads? I hope my curmudgeonly attitude and rants against our new Warlord Obama aren’t partially responsible! (See, I can be just as self important as Eric Church and Dierks Bentley!) Maybe everyone is just out looking for a new job….
Any 9513er’s around Jacksonville, FL can catch some FREE upcoming concerts by Top 40 artists. I wish LA’s FM country station would do something like this. Here’s the details (from AllAboutCountry.com):
“99.9 FM ‘Gator Country’ Spring Concerts Begin Friday Night – Jacksonville’s FREE Concert Series Continues!
WGNE-99.9 FM Gator Country/Jacksonville is keeping it Free again this year with their 99.9 Gator Country/Metro PCS FREE Spring Concert Series at the Jackson Landing.
The concert series kicks off this Friday night (3/13) with Jimmy Wayne and Bucky Covington. Then
Friday, March 20th: Darryl Worley & Love And Theft
Friday, March 27th: Chuck Wicks & Justin Moore
Friday, April 3rd: Jamie O’Neal & BOMSHEL”
That’s a darn good line-up for FREE! If this were in Los Angeles, I’d make an effort to see Darryl Worley and Jamie O’Neal with the BOMSHEL gals.

I love the unplugged version of Jessica Andrews’ “Everything”. Sounds much more emotional, they should release this version to the radio.

Well, I suppose that after a prolonged steady diet of Taylor Swift, Jamie Lynn probably sounds pretty good in comparison.

Carrie’s version of Home Sweet Home is going to be sold as a ditigal single, and part of that money is going to The Humane Society of the United States.
Well, isn’t that just great? If you buy Carrie’s single your hard-earned dollars are donated to an extremist animal rights organization.

“Well, isn’t that just great? If you buy Carrie’s single your hard-earned dollars are donated to an extremist animal rights organization.”
Oh, now the Humane Society is extremist. Wonder if Miranda Lambert is aware of that?

The Humane Society of the United States IS an extremist organization with an animal rights agenda. HSUS does not run any shelters and they are not affiliated in any way with your local humane societies. They have a radical agenda that is very similar to PETA’s — namely to put an end to pet ownership.
As someone who has spent a considerable amount of time and money rescuing and rehoming dogs over the past 8 years, this is something I feel very strongly about and I strongly urge everyone NOT to do anything to put money into this organization. By all means, give to your local SPCAs and Humane Societies, but PLEASE don’t give the HSUS any money. There is a huge difference between animal rights and animal welfare.

NorthTexas, Miranda is helping LOCAL humane societies in Oklahoma and Texas. Very commendable of her, but the organizations she is helping are NOT affiliated with the Humane Society of the United States. Don’t let the similar names confuse you.
March 10, 2009 at 11:30 pm Permalink
Razor, I wasn’t aware there was any difference between the national & local humane societies and I bet Carrie’s not aware of it either.

Razor X:
Seriously?! What is your deal? I mean every time Carrie does something you must jump all over it and criticize it. I still bet that even if Carrie were doing something along the lines of Miranda Lambert then you would still find something wrong with it.
Jamie Lynn doing a country album. No. Just no.
March 11, 2009 at 5:12 am Permalink
Matthew, it’s not about Carrie. I would have jumped on this no matter what artist was supporting HSUS. Not my fault that it happened to be Carrie.
March 11, 2009 at 7:02 am Permalink
Razor already jumped all over a topic at Country Universe that pertained to a variety of women and he singled out Carrie on several occasion, as you can imagine nothing positive. That was my same response too;
“Seriously?! What is your deal? I mean every time Carrie does something you must jump all over it and criticize it.”
If you knew anyting at all Carrie would never do anything to harm any animals in any sort of manner, before her stardom she worked at an animal hospital, and has devoted her time to animals long before AI, so although I did check out your link I think it is a load of bull.
I hope she raises millions for her charity, in fact I will donate now!!! I volenteer at my area’s dog rescue and we are never told any such thing about HSUS.

Nice to see the Davisson Brothers Band album being mentioned. The guys from WV put on a heck of a live show and I’m so glad their album is finally out!
March 11, 2009 at 8:05 am Permalink
VP, what do you think I did, made the whole thing up and designed a website to support what I was saying, all in an effort to make Carrie look bad? Get a grip.
I’m not questioning her love for animals and her intentions may be good but she is not the first celebrity to be duped into supporting an organization without being aware of its hidden agenda. Like I said before, this isn’t about Carrie.
If you don’t believe the link I posted, there are plenty of others out there that support what I said. Just do a Google search on HSUS and animal rights extremism and they’ll come up.

Regarding Jamie Lyn Spears: Good luck, I won’t buy the album, but good luck to her, teen age mother has to make money somehow (enjoy the sarcasm).
Regarding Hank Locklin: R.I.P Hank, you deserve it
Regarding Lady Antebellum: If you yourself admit some songs were forgettable, why did you put them on, isn’t it the singers goal to put the best possible album out there.
Regarding Curly Putnam: Nice to see he’s getting some mention, truly a great songwriter.
It’s great to be back all, I missed this great website.
Carries Mistake is proof that you need to read the fine print carefully.
