Interview: Tammy Cochran Loves To Cook And Wants Your Feedback On Her Latest Album

After finding out last month that Tammy Cochran was releasing a new album I was curious as to whether it would be anything like her past albums. You might remember her soul-wrenching song “Angels In Waiting”. That particular song always held a deep meaning with me because I also have older twin brothers. When I heard the song and saw the video for the first time, it made me realize how lucky I am that my brothers are heathly. It’s been a few years since your last album, what have you been doing with all your time not spent in the studio?
Most of my time is spent writing songs, and doing shows. It’s funny, because people think that just because I’m not on the charts, that I’m not working. I’m really doing what I’ve always done; making music.

In what ways is this album different from the last one?
This album is what I call a songwriter’s album. It’s a little peek inside who I am when I’m not performing on stage. These songs have come from personal experiences. Either my own, or someone close to me. There are different styles of music on this album too. It gives me a chance to show everyone what I can do.

How does it make you feel to know that your song, “Angels In Waiting,” has had such a big impact on so many people’s lives?
That song continues to amaze me to this day. As you probably know, Angels is a song that I never thought would be a single. It was my tribute to my brothers, and a gift to my parents. I get emails everyday from people telling me how that song has helped them through a difficult time in their life. It makes me feel so good that my music can help others. I know that song has helped me.

I noticed your album won’t be released in retail stores, what’s the reasoning behind that move?
I’m on an indy label now, and indy labels are pretty huge right now and are gaining success everyday. We do have plans to go to retail in the next several months, but for now it’s only available online. www.tammycochranfans.com

Do you have any plans to release a new video in the near future?
We have discussed the possiblility of shooting a video, but we haven’t made any definite decisions yet.

Besides performing awe-inspiring music, what are some of your other hobbies?
I love to cook and try new recipes, love to spend time in the sun with my family and friends.

What has been the most memorable moment of your career to this point?
Wow, there are so many great moments that will stick with me my life time… but a few are, my Grand Ol’ Opry debut, performing on the Jerry Lewis Telethon, getting to co-star with Billy Ray Cyrus on his show “Doc”… And of course, getting to tour with George Strait.

If you had to pick one thing, what would you say is your favorite part of being in the country music industry?
One thing?? Oh my! That’s a hard one!! My favorite thing….being able to make a living doing what I love to do. Knowing that my fans are loyal and continue to support me… that is a blessing, and I am so thankful for them.

Who is your favorite up and coming country music artist?
There are a lot to choose from, but I really like Ashley Monroe. What a cool voice she has.
